American Gangster - loved it

The Golden Compass - totally gay

Inside Man - solid all-around

The Bourne Ultimatum - what I expected

I Am Legend - left wanting more, certainly kept me on the edge of my seat though

Pan's Labyrinth - bizarre, but excellent

The Prestige - Christopher Nolan is the man

3:10 To Yuma - Christian Bale and Russell Crowe in a movie together, couldn't possibly be a bad movie right?...could've been a great movie but what a let down

Apocalypto - badass

next on the list is Night Watch: Nochnoi Dozor

Missed work for the first time in about 6 years yesterday and the day before so took the opportunity to catch up on some movies...I watched:

Kiss, Kiss, Bang, Bang
For Your Consideration
Hard Candy
Basketball Diaries
The Big Lebowski
No Country for Old Men
The Pursuit of Happyness

I know...it is a crime that it took be this long to see The Big Lebowski...I finally got tired of my brother and sister tossing around quotes from the movie and me having no idea what they were talking about.

Pretty much enjoyed all of them, but especially liked For Your Consideration, Hard Candy and No Country for Old Men...

Next on my list:

Eastern Promises
Crash
The Kingdom
The Illusionist
Layer Cake
Grindhouse - Planet Terror
The Good Shepard
City of God
The Fountain

You'll have to report back to us about the naked fight scene in Eastern Promises. :p

City of God is one of my favorites ever. Depressing as hell but amazing.

Last movie I watched was Waitress.

Mongol. Film out of Russia, supposed to be part one in a trilogy about the life of Genghis Khan. A couple of decent battle scenes, but most of it was just pointless dialogue and it actually skipped about 20 years of his life.

I also saw 3:10 to Yuma and Superbad last weekend. I appreciate 3:10 to Yuma alot more now knowing that Tom Cruise was originally supposed to play Russell Crowe's character. Superbad sucked.

Juno. Nothing special. Ellen Page isn't a good actress.

Wow...just wow...luckily the HFPA and SAG people don't agree with you. Watch Hard Candy and tell me she is isn't amazing in that movie.

Normally I listen to Rotten Tomatoes but I decided to give The Number 23 a try last night. Just awful...I mean absolutely dreadful.

The Illusionist was solid. Jessica Biel has come a long way from Summer Catch. Paul Giamatti continually impresses (although I still think of him as Pig Vomit). The guy who played Prince Leopold was especially good.

Eastern Promises is on tap for this weekend...I'll make sure to report back to you and Manfred about the bath house shenanigans.

Oh come on, you didn't get a good belly laugh outta the flashback scene with Jim Carey playing a tattoed up badass calling that chick a bitch and shit? Me and my friend were laughing our asses off in the theater (oddly, the only ones).

Okay, I'll give you that...to quote Bill Simmons the film was high in "unintentional comedy"...I kept waiting for flashback Jim to bust out in his Captain Kirk impression...

I've seen Hard Candy. She was better in that than Juno but still very average. She has ZERO charisma and cannot carry a movie, especially a comedy. FWIW, I thought the rest of the cast in Juno was outstanding but it's hard to like a movie if you don't like the lead character.
