Vertigo by Alfred Horsecock. The wife's choice. She's really into Horsecock - says he's the exact opposite of me, whatever the hell that's supposed to mean. Anywho, great film, has lots of moxie.

FWIW:
A Quiet Place part II - personally I thought it was worthless; hard to kill aliens invade the planet; how novel
Cruella - was pleasantly surprised; I liked it and pretty sure wife and daughter would love it
Wrath of Man - meh, underwhelmed
Spiral Saw - dayummm; intense, very graphic; violent; worthwhile

It just came out on Disney plus, so we watched “We Bought a Zoo” with the girls (who have so so many pets). I forgot it was a Cameron Crowe movie, and it’s very much a Cameron Crowe movie, for all that entails (good soundtrack is a given). Thomas Haden Church is always a welcome presence. Pretty sure I have to buy a zoo now.

Space Jam 2.

3.5 out of 5. Grew up as a huge fan of the original - had the movie poster with MJ/Bugs/Etc on my wall as a kid. Definitely cheesy, new age update - Warner Brothers went a little over the top pumping their portfolio, but overall it had plenty of nostalgia and it got a lot of chuckles out of us (no kids). Kids in theater seemed to enjoy it, which is what matters. I imagine it’s cool for them to see LeBron on the big screen. Don Cheadle is good, per usual.

LeBron let the script take a decent amount of jabs at him, which was actually really funny. Worth a watch.

I would say a 6 to 7 out of 10 but definitely worth the watch. Some will be upset with how some of the characters are developed (or not). I am interested in how it will tie in to
Hawkeye series on Disney+ and how Valentino is going to use her minions.

Yeah, I could see areas to nitpick, but I'm not all that wrapped up in the MCU stuff. I've seen all the movies & series, but I wouldn't call myself a "fanboy" by any stretch. For me, it's just "was it entertaining" & "did it keep me engaged?" This was a yes for both. Plus, love me some Scarlett Johansson.

The Tomorrow War streaming on Amazon Prime, co-starring big Ohio State Buckeyes fan JK Simmons in a supporting role. It's what you would expect in a sci-fi action adventure, pretty good entertainment but I actually think it could have been great in a 2- or 3-part movie or mini series.

THE Suicide Squad was by far the best DCEU movie so far. Just the start of the price Disney is going to pay for temporarily firing James Gunn. Hopefully they learned their lesson and keep Taika Waititi happy. Any chance we can get a Gunn cut of Justice League?

I'm not a super hero movie guy, so take this with a grain of salt. I thought the movie was visually stunning, but the writing was so terribly bad, I felt I could have watched the entire thing on mute and enjoyed it just as much. And just to clarify, I did enjoy it on the home theater in Dolby Vision/Atmos.

The dialogue? Some of the over-arching themes? Some of the social, political and military (underlying) commentary?

I'm curious which parts because I thought, for what the film was, that it was pretty damned good.

As I said, in general, I roll my eyes at most super hero movies, so I’m also not going to be the best reviewer. Having said that, the awkward forced humor wasn’t funny at all. The only thing I laughed at was the villain. A big angry starfish that was about as scary as Patrick Star. Despite these shortcomings, I was entertained. 6 out of 10 overall.

Only about 45 minutes in, but this Ready Player One movie is a visually stunning exercise in inventing a completely different story with no basis in the original material.

Update: it sure is neat when directors invent their own unrelated movies on the shoulders of authors.
