Desmond Thomas Doss (February 7, 1919 – March 23, 2006) was a United States Army corporal who served as a combat medic with an infantry company in World War II. He distinguished himself in the Battle of Okinawa by saving 75 men, becoming the first conscientious objector to receive the Medal of Honor for actions above and beyond the call of duty. He is also the only conscientious objector to receive the medal during World War II.

I watched it on HBO over the weekend, too. Really good story and movie, although it was a bit on the gruesome side.

I know it's Hollywood, but I don't know why the felt like they had to change to story to make it "better". The real story was good enough on it's own.

Found this starting on HBO on vacation a few weeks ago and thought it would be like the Babadook. Fantastic movie, but it was not like the Babadook at all. I had to apologize to my wife repeatedly for making her watch it. I swear I didn't know what it was going to be.

Gerald's Game on Netflix. Very good adaptation....definitely not the scariest King work, but if you can watch that movie without an overwhelming sense of anxiety, then there is something wrong with you. Oof.

Re-watched this with my girls: this one still totally holds up, and they both loved it. It seems amazing to me, however, just how much swearing there was in 80s PG family-friendly movies. We have the DVD, but I actually preferred the TV version just for the sake of my daughters' ears. Holy jeesh!

Fate of the Furious.

After strongly disliking 7 and being unsure about 6, I enjoyed this one, fully expecting an outrageous movie. They embraced its absurdity and remembered to have fun. They didn't put Hobbs in the hospital for most of the movie like 7 (asking Dom to deliver moving emotional scenes).

Charlize Theron is a surprisingly decent villain in such a shallow franchise.

Treat it like a b movie with great action and you may enjoy it.
