Watched the Black Mirror Christmas Story, which is full length. I'm not as much of a Sci Fi fan, so that aspect was kind of meh, but the acting was really good and it was a fun, old school Twilight Zone/Tales from the Crypt story. 4/5

That may be my favorite piece of television ever. Well, not counting the time the Bionic Woman got naked.

Instantly added to my pantheon of favorite Vietnam movies & war movies for that matter. R. Lee Ermey got me rock hard as did DiNardo before he was dealt the cruelest of blows. I'm saddened that my Marine Corps (Reserve) experience, or lack thereof, never taught me the how to fire from the hip like this bunch...

Stumbled upon this on one of the movie channels as it was starting this afternoon & could not pass it up. Never disappoints.

Got a story for ya.. many years ago...

I choose too many movies based on some movie critics ratings
so "Y Tu Mama Tambien" was very highly rated by a couple of these guys
I'm in some small town shop with my long flight scheduled the following day... so I buy the CD knowing nothing about the movie

Sitting in the airplane waiting for plane to fill up.. fire up the laptop.. pop in the CD.. while I'm getting situated
this movie comes right out of the blocks with a fierce ultra graphic threesome banging and screaming
everyone around me can see this.. I'm stunned... can't find the mute button.. and now everyone thinks I'm watching pornos

I have a confession to make. I don't like slasher flicks. I hold no love for Friday the 13th, Halloween isn't in my collection & I don't view Texas Chainsaw Massacre as a brilliant commentary on modern society. For me the first bright spot in the genre was Nightmare on Elm Street. Finally a film that not only danced on most of the stupid cliches but was actually well written.

Most of the movies that touch on the genre that I do like tend to be satire. The Cabin in the Woods, Tucker and Dale vs Evil & Slither are all on my list of movies worth watching.

This film was fun. A lot of fun. The 3rd act was a little weak, but I still enjoyed it was still fun & managed to skewer most of the tropes it was aiming for.

:slappy: yeah that's not the movie you want at the beginning or end in mixed stranger company. Good rule of thumb: any foreign film like that with a woman on the cover, generally use a bit of caution :lol:

So I've slept quite a bit on BvS.

I've come down to these conclusions on what would have made it a better movie.

1) Cutting out Doomsday. Focusing the plot on Bats vs Supes and their fight.
2) Giving more motivation to Wonder Woman. Aside from being a chick who is just going to nice parties to steal Bruce's shit.. Why is she doing that?
3) The opening death scene and funeral wasn't necessary at all.
4) Perhaps giving a bigger hint that Robin was killed during the Superman vs Zod fight
5) Didn't need half of the dream sequences
6) Leaving out the Batman training montage. Or at least, give it some depth. Perhaps don't focus so much on the workouts themselves but maybe overlay some of the screams and cries for help, images of destruction and death that Bruce had seen during the rescues. That would be adding to the source of his pain and consuming what he thinks about while training.

4 months, 3 weeks, and 2 days: Finally got to this one, which won the grand prize at Cannes. I can see why it did. There were a couple of very sizable flaws (one gaping), but despite that, it was really good and depressing as fuck, as intended. Personally, what made this movie for me was the dreary backdrop, much like Let the Right One In. Communist Rumania was not a place to enjoy, it would appear. Despite its flaws, I would give it a 4/5 based on dealing with tough material and the cinematography, and some pretty good acting by the lead girl.
