Uncommon Valor

OK, so I was flipping through Netflix and came across this early 80s movie with Gene Hackman as the lead role.

"A group of Vietnam War veterans re-unite to rescue one of their own left behind and taken prisoner by the Vietnamese. Supported by his father (a retired military man himself) and a rich businessman whose son was also a POW, the group engages in a dangerous and violent adventure trying to rescue the POWs and at the same time re-direct their lives."

Sounded good.

I guess I forgot how cheesy and low budget films were done in the early 80s. It felt like a long, drawn out, more serious version of the original A-Team TV series. There is even some really bad audio dubbing in some scenes.

If you can't appreciate Randall Tex Cobb kicking ass without needing to resort to oriental martial bullshit...well I guess there's just no accounting for taste.

There's a lot to love about Uncommon Valor....I believe it's the first time I saw a spotter directing a shooter actually get portrayed somewhat accurately (or at all for that matter).

Yeah, so Pinata: Survival Island was on FLIX this weekend. Typical C movie, with hardbodied young ladies on a beach (though none got naked :pissed:) and a REALLY crappy story about a pinata that comes to life and gets pretty pissed after one of the young ladies whacks it  Funny thing is, the CGI and stuff to make the pinata move around looked pretty reasonable, but the special effects of people actually getting killed looked $19.95 plus shipping and handling  It had some comedic value if you like bad horror movies, and the girls were nice to look at.

OK, I phrased that entirely wrong

What I meant was it looked like they sunk some (poorly spent) money into it. As in at least they made an attempt. The actual death scenes looked like they bought one can of red paint, threw it on the dude's/chick's head, and then cut to another hardbody. In other words, one take, 12 bucks, and 5 minutes.

watched PredatorS last night. I have to say, Adrianne Brody was pretty bad ass in that role. I was not expecting that out of him. I thought the movie was pretty good, but I could have used a little more character development. Seemed set up for a sequel at some time, but overall, I enjoyed it.
