Wall-E, actually was a lot of fun, the wife and I really enjoyed it, didn't cry like Numby though.

I was quite impressed with this movie. Lots of emotion and connection to the audience for a movie that had very little dialogue in the traditional sense. As usual for Pixar, just flat out stunning animation of course. The short included with the special features, "Burn-E", was great too but best watched after. I really liked that the story was continued and expanded on in a different animation style during the credits as well. Extremely good movie.

Ironically I was someone disappointed with Wall-E BUT ONLY because my expectations were so high.

Very good movie but not as good as the Invincibles or Nemo.

(It says a lot about Pixar that they can produce a movie that's a solid A- and I find it disappointing. :) )

I didn't like the Invincibles as much. I think maybe because I wasn't as fond of the art style, but I'm not totally sure.

Force of Evil. A slick Wall Street attorney (John Garfield) and a mob boss attempt to monopolize the New York numbers racket. A decent movie if you like old film noir. 7.0/10

Lawrence of Arabia. The great Peter O'Toole (Becket, The Lion in Winter, The Stunt Man) plays controversial British officer T.E. Lawrence in this epic adventure movie, which details Lawrence's efforts to aid the Arabs in their uprising against the Ottoman Turks during Work War One, and ultimately to form an Arab nation. This film succeeds as a history, a biography, a swashbuckler, and a travelogue. The stellar cast also includes Sir Alec Guiness, Anthony Quinn, Omar Sharif, Claude Rains, and Jack Hawkins; directed by Sir David Lean (The Bridge on the River Kwai; Doctor Zhivago; Great Expectations; Oliver Twist). 9.8/10

Grosse Point Blank. A friend of mine highly recommended this movie, so I was really excited to see it ... but I thought that it was average at best. Low energy, flat jokes, bad chemistry between the leads (John Cusak, Minnie Driver), wasted roles (Dan Aykroyd as John's rival, Joan Cusack as John's secretary). Too bad, because the plot - a professional hitman returns to his suburban home to attend his tenth high school reunion while filling a contract - could have been turned into a very interesting (and humorous) movie. 5.0/10

The Spirit:
The Spirit (2008)
Based on the comic book born in the 40's, this film continues the trend, Sin City, Iron Man, etc. Was originally slated for January, but now opens wide on Christmas, thus eligible for current consideration(awards). Pretty sure that the majority of this Red Bull Buckeye board will enjoy this film, possibly alot. Extremely stylized, cutting edge 'noir', (if there could be such a thing), loads of action and enough violence for most, decent cast of film and TV actors including SamuelL and some delightful lovlies - Eva Mendes, Jamie King and Scarlett Johansson.

Last Chance Harvey:
Last Chance Harvey (2008)
For the slower, more contemplative set. Predictable - but enjoyable. Good quality production, Hoffman and Emma Thompson in top form, w/strong support. Opens wide on the 26th.
