Going in to have the surgery done today. Any tips or things I should be expecting??

The actual surgery is quick and painless. After that, there is a lot of different experiences. My eyes hurt/burned like bloody hell for 5 hours afterwards, then everything was fine. Others feel little or no pain afterwards. No matter what the case, it will all be worth it in the end. You'll be very happy you decided to do it. Good luck!

My dad has Lasik about 10 years ago and it did not work. Had another friend of his who had it done and had to go on permenent disability because his vision was screwed up so bad.

Guy used to be a scratch golfer and can no longer golf because his depth perception and vision is so bad.

These two stories are in the minority but remember, LASIK is considered "surgery" so you accept any risks that there may be.

Surface treatment is a bit different. The healing process is different. I have decent vision right now(6 days after surgery) and have been told that the vision will continue to improve. I find that when my eyes are dry that the vision fades a tad. they said that by end of month my vision should have improved to 20/25-20/20. I am at 20/30 now. I can drive and get most of my work done. I havent had any "real"ssues yet.

you have it done by the guy that advertises all the time on local television:huh: I never understood why a physician would advertise so much if he was that good. Glad everything came out okay.

I actually was referred to him by my opthomologist. He told me that every eye doctor he knows that has had it done went to him. It wasn't til a year later I even saw him on there. I researched him before hand and he actually teaches alot of the other doctors how to do the procedures. I reccommend going to where you feel comfortable, because having a awake surgery can be nerve racking. But I more than trust that he knows what he is doing. And I'd pay a little more for the right guy than to pay for shotty treatment on my eye. Beran does alot of cataract and lens replacement surgeries too. He has been doing it forever too. Again, I felt comfortable there.

Edit- Maybe he advertises to up his appointments due to how short the surgeries actually take and he can bankmore. I didn't choose him off that really stupid informmercial. I had an ulcer on my eye 2 years back and the doctor recommended him after I healed up and said that he was going there to have his done there too. I couldn't afford it til now.

Just an update. It has been one month since surgery and I am seeing great. It is better than when I had contacts and I have very minimal issues. At night my eyes get tired and they will occasionally burn (I believe due to dryness). But when I wake up they feel great again. I am very pleased with the process. they have told me that my eyes will continue to improve and if that is the case I will be seeing better than I ever have. I am seeing at 20/20-20/25 now so that would put me at better than 20/20. I highly recommend it if you can cover the costs.
