It’s alright in fans eyes(well not Ole Miss fans) when coaches leave teams before the season ends, and they don’t have employment windows. But fans would be up in arms if a player stopped playing before the season ended and they need a Portal window… got it

My guess is that he was demanding Ole Miss let him coach the playoffs, and they told him no. To be honest, they should have just let him, as they aren't reaching the playoffs again soon with a new coach, and they are unlikely to make a deep run when losing the staff. Either way, it looks like Kiffen is trying to do right by the Ole Miss players, and I can't really fault him if that is the case.
Regardless - Mass transfer of Ole Miss players to LSU coming up.
