Is it wrong that for once in my life im siding with Kiffin/USC on something?

Pola wasn't dragged away from the Titans kicking and screaming, if Pola violated the terms of his contract by leaving then the Titans should seek damages from HIM. It isn't USC's problem that a coach wants to come there, heck following that logic Cincy would be suing Notre Dame and everything else. As far as "NFL Protocol" goes, why should USC give a shit about that? They aren't an NFL team (even if their payroll was similar to one for a few years there) and don't have any obligations to follow their protocol.

Another reason the Titans/Fisher aren't getting my sympathy, they just axed a RB coach that had done a fine job in his position (Chris Johnson was a monster last year) in order to hire Pola. Seems like Fisher's getting a dose of karma if you ask me

Why does it matter who's right or wrong? Isn't it enough to just sit back and enjoy watching as USC and the entire state of Tennessee engage in one of the douchiest fueds in the history of football?

Yes.

Here is what is great about this. Pat Haden just came on board and essentially said that things would be different now. Within a week we have headlines reading USC is being sued.

Groundless? Perhaps. Largely depends on whether the Titans consulted message boards or highly paid legal counsel before filing suit. I am guessing the later.

This is another lose-lose for USC.

Naked Tennessee fan support grab. Depends on the number of new tickets sold.

From a coaches perspective....Kiffin was in the wrong. Its kind of a non written agreement among coaches everywhere. Same rules apply in high school, college, and the pro's. Do they need to sue? Probably not but o well.

The legal basis for the suit as I have come to understand it:

Pola has a clause in his contract that he must inform the Titans before discussing other job offers - which he did not.

The term "tortuous conduct" refers to a persons reasonable obligation not to bring harm to others.

So, if Kiffin calls Pola and says "Want to come to USC?" - fine

But if Pola says, "I can't talk to you because of this clause in my contract" and Kiffin then says "Don't worry about that - let's just talk and see where it goes." - not fine. He has knowingly induced a breach of contract which brings harm to the Titans.

And the best part - USC, a program on probation, has to rely on Kiffin to follow all the NCAA recruiting rules.

And no, I am NOT a lawyer, but I do have a degree in Finance from THE Ohio State University. (And I know how to use the Internets.)

It doesn't make me feel any better that I'm reiterating statements from ESPN but I stand by them

He might not have followed the coaches "honor code" but that's not really lawsuit material. I was also pointing out that I'm sure that the honor code permits firing people who do a good job, which is why I think Fisher is getting what he deserves here

Is it really a feud if only one side is actually participating? USC fans certainly aren't sending bogus faxes to drain the fax machines at Utenn.
