Jim Foster didn't want to talk about what happened at Iowa anymore.
The Ohio State women's basketball coach preferred a different topic after the 18th-ranked Buckeyes dismantled Northwestern 81-55 yesterday in Value City Arena and moved into a tie for first place in the Big Ten with Michigan State.
The victory snapped a two-game conference losing streak for Ohio State (20-5, 11-3) and featured a wicked defensive edge that appeared lacking during an 85-75 road loss to the Hawkeyes on Thursday.
Iowa, Foster said, already had been relegated to the dusty archives of ancient history.
"I think we left the Iowa game in Iowa City," he said. "Then you come back and suddenly (reporters) are talking about it again. And we left it there. This team does a very good job of dealing with today. That's over. What's next?"
Northwestern (6-19, 2-12) played the unhappy role of "next" in that tunneled OSU universe. The Buckeyes played oncoming train. They attacked the Wildcats in the full court at the opening tip and never let up. The strategy forced 16 first-half turnovers and opened a 39-17 lead at the break.
"They got the pace up," Northwestern coach Joe McKeown said. "For us to win, we have to keep the scores in the early 50s. They just played really well today. And they shot the ball really well."
