Lady Buckeyes vs Minn. 1/15/09

Best Buckeye

Pretending I'm a pleasant person is exhausting.

Thursday night the Lady Buckeyes will entertain the Gophers in Columbus.

Our Bucks will try to improve their record to 15 -2 as the 13th ranked ladies attempt to win the B10 title again.

The game is slated to be shown on the B10 network.

We are really struggling tonight...Really not sure why...We lost Little to injury, but she wasn't a big scorer and that is what the problem seems to be tonight...

Down 6 with under 8, still lots of time, hopefully we can come back and win this one...

Ouch. Tough night. Minnesota shot well from 3 (came in shooting 37%, made 7-12) and destroyed OSU on the offensive glass. Late in the game, 2nd chance points were 15-0 in favor of the Gophers.

If you want to run you either have to dominate your defensive glass or you have to pressure the other team's backcourt to force turnovers and misses (preferably both). The ladies couldn't do either very well last night. I'm sure Shevy would have helped with ball pressure.

On the other hand, you could say if they made a shot or two in the first half things would have been different. But then you also have to just give the Gophers credit for an intense effort and some pretty good play.

They have a week of practice to get back on track for Illinois and Purdue. I think (hope) this was just a bump in the road.

Didn't get to post after the game, but we were at this one. I think we beat that team 8/10 tries, but just didn't create enough opportunities for ourselves on either end.

I did want to commend the attendance of some of the men's team, which has been pretty consistent throughout the season. As a fan of both, I think it's great to see. By the end of the game, Lighty was up on his feet waving his arms and trying to get the crowd to yell louder. :)

I watched this game and what killed them was their lack of rebounding on both the offensive and especially the defensive boards.

While I agree with your premise about pressuring the other teams backcourt in order to run, this team must really be hurting in depth, and I don't believe it is, if the absence of Little (I know she is a very good on the ball defender) is going to stop them from running. They just did not play well and were beaten on the boards.

Also Stokes was in uniform tonight...
I was hoping that they would redshirt Amber.
