she just finished her sophomore year. That is correct. My point was that Foster needs to stay recruiting a player to take her position when she graduates. He does not need her in this class but he certainly needs her in the 2010 recruiting class. That was the point I was trying to make.JCOSU86;1455269; said:Isn't Jantel a soph this year? ? Ayana Dunning, a 6-foot-3 freshman center from Eastmoor Academy, is transferring from LSU. She averaged 5.1 points and 4.2 rebounds in 23 games. She started nine games and averaged 13.7 minutes.
Eastmoor coach Jim Miranda said Dunning, who was the Dispatch player of the year in 2007-08, became disenchanted when she did not play against Mississippi State and Vanderbilt in the Southeastern Conference tournament and against Louisville in the NCAA Tournament.
Women's basketball: OSU gets 2011 commitment

At the earliest, Maleeka Kynard didn't have to choose a college for another year and a half.
A 5-foot-6 sophomore point guard with two seasons remaining to play for Toledo Start, Kynard decided that she didn't need the extra time. She cut short the recruiting process yesterday by telling Ohio State that she would play for the Buckeyes in 2011.
"One of the big reasons I chose (Ohio State) is because it's so close and my family will be able to come and see me play," Kynard said. "And I've been a fan of Ohio State since I was little."
Former OSU basketball star Jim Jackson, she added, is a family friend. She also likes the idea of playing for coach Jim Foster.
"He seems like he is pretty cool," Kynard said.
Start coach Bob Brown said that Ohio State offered Kynard a scholarship before last season, which ended with the Spartans in the Division I state championship game. They lost 52-38 to Mount Notre Dame despite 12 points from Kynard.

The Ohio State women's basketball team will travel to Durham, N.C., next season to play Duke in the Big Ten-Atlantic Coast Conference Challenge.
The Dec. 3 game in Cameron Indoor Stadium will mark the first meeting between the five-time defending Big Ten champion Buckeyes and the Blue Devils.
Duke finished second in the ACC last season and was the No. 1 seed in the NCAA West Regional before being upset by Michigan State in the second round. Ohio State, a No. 3 seed, reached the Sweet 16, where it lost to Stanford.
The ACC posted a 7-4 record in the challenge last season. Duke defeated Iowa 71-47, and Ohio State lost to North Carolina 72-63.
Here are the other Challenge matchups next season:
Dec. 2: Georgia Tech at Penn State, Illinois at Wake Forest and Boston College at Iowa.
Dec. 3: Michigan at Virginia Tech, Minnesota at Maryland, North Carolina at Michigan State, Purdue at Virginia, Florida State at Indiana and Wisconsin at North Carolina State.
Recruiting class grows up with 6-foot-4 Serb
The Ohio State women's basketball team added some size to its 2009-10 recruiting class yesterday by signing Aleksandra Dobranic to a national letter of intent.
Dobranic is a 6-foot-4 forward-center from Novi Sad, Serbia. She will join the incoming freshman class that includes forward Emilee Harmon and guards Brianna Sanders and Tayler Hill.
"We were contacted by someone over there," coach Jim Foster said. "We watched some DVDs and she came here for a visit. We just liked her size and her touch. It's always good to have another big kid in the gym, and Serbia has a history of turning out some good players."
A member of the Serbian Junior National Team, Dobranic, 18, played in the Balkan Championships in Romania and in the European Championships in Slovakia in 2008.

Let's not get carried away. Two of the top 10 players in the 2010 class are from Ohio including the number two ranked player who has already said that she will be going to Duke. I am going to have to check down Hamilton Road and make sure Kathleen Sawyer has left towncrazybuckfan40;1472566; said:Foster can't recruit...
Scullion chooses OSU ? for hoops

The multi-sport standout at Salem High was expected to make volleyball her college career.
Arguably the best volleyball player in the history of the Mahoning Valley finally made her college decision.
But not in the sport everyone expected.
Salem High?s Amy Scullion has verbally committed to play basketball at Ohio State.
?It definitely was a really hard decision,? said Scullion, a first team All-Ohioan in volleyball and a third team all-state selection in basketball. ?It came down to Ohio State being the school I wanted to be at.
?I love the atmosphere and I love the university. I jumped at the chance.?
Scullion follows in the footsteps of her older sister Katie, who was a freshman at Ohio State this school year, and her parents, who both graduated from OSU?s optometry school.
When asked how much of a factor her sister played in the decision, Scullion smiled and said, ?I think it was a bigger factor than I would like to admit. We?re pretty close and it?s definitely going to be nice to be down there with her again.?
Scullion (6-foot) can play either forward or guard on the basketball team and is an outside hitter on the volleyball team.
