2026 LA DL Lamar Brown (LSU Signee)

Read that with my negative nelly bifocals, and hope Patricia's not getting crosswise with LJsr, as did previous DC. But tOSU has exhibited some great recruiting chops this year, everywhere except DL. Saw this as a kinda sorta thing, like the Bama President telling Nick Saban he ought to run more end arounds.....

I could also see it as Day saying someone needs to help with DL recruiting. From following Day as a coach, he seems to think like many of us on these message boards, and doesn't seem like a coach with his head in the sand. He has a keen eye for recruiting, and who's doing well and who's doing... maybe not as well with their position. And he isn't shy about finding resolutions or guys need to move(i.e. Eliano, Stud, Frye, Kelly, Alford)

Thought this had been solved, when tOSU had an 'heir-apparent' (who fled to Texas). Believe tOSU is reaching a point where opposing coaches are using the 'LJ is gonna retire soon' against us (still....), and the recruiting simply is not where it should be. Don't really have a solution, and apparently, neither does Day. When I look at those coaches that have been shown the door, none have attained the professional pinnacle that LJsr has. Doubt that we fanatics will ever see it, but wonder if Day has the cojones to give LJ the ultimatum of an MBO (management by objective), of getting 3 (?) 5* DL guys into the fold. Forget the DL coach's name, but appears that Texas has corralled 5 (!) DT guys from the portal this year. Maybe to keep them out of tOSU's hands?

No. 1 recruit DT Lamar Brown signs with LSU

LSU and coach Lane Kiffin closed a busy early signing period with a bang Friday, officially securing the signature of defensive tackle Lamar Brown, ESPN's No. 1 overall 2026 recruit.

Brown, a 6-foot-5, 285-pound defender from Erwinville, Louisiana, signed his letter of intent on the final day of the three-day period, the program announced, formally joining Kiffin and the Tigers as the program's first No. 1 overall addition since Leonard Fournette in 2014.

Committed to the program since July, Brown was not initially expected to sign this week following meetings between Brown's representatives and members of the LSU staff Tuesday.

While Brown remained verbally committed to the program, sources told ESPN that his camp harbored reservations over Kiffin's to-be-completed coaching staff. Uncertainty hanging over the futures of Tigers interim coach Frank Wilson and defensive coordinator Blake Barker marked a particular concern for Brown, who attends high school on the LSU campus and developed close relationships with the program's previous staff during his recruitment.
