L.A. Blues ... or some post-game thoughts

That's what I noticed about Boeckman. Every time they showed him on the sidelines he looked like he was about to cry... standing there not talking to anyone. On the other hand, Pryor was trying to fire up guys and constantly jumping up and down on the sidelines. Maybe those who were actually at the game saw something different.

He took a beating. Some huge hits. That will shake you up. He's a tough "kid". He has really taken some hits his 2 years.

He "tackled" him, which coincided with a balance-losing spin move. That's why it was called. I think it was questionable, and no one would have complained had it gone uncalled.

Did Person grab his shirt? I didn't see that in any video. There was a lot of holding/shirt grabbing that didn't get called, so it really looks like a bad call. I don't get the holding call when an O lineman ends up on top a D lineman? I'm assuming it's a "judgement" call? I haven't seen that called very often. It was a game changing penality. I saw Wiscy lose an obvious
fumble call against Fresno. Wiscy hung on, just barely. In fact I saw Adams do the exact same thing against YSU and no penality called.

Is it unrealistic for Ohio State to look at the future of our offense, and pluck a proven Coordinator from another school? Every weekend when you flip around the channels you see teams running efficent spread offenses. Offenses that with lesser talent give major programs fits.

Would it be unrealistic to expect a guy like Andy Ludwig (just an example of an OC who has proven to be a very succesful OC at a smaller level-Utah OC) to come to Ohio State and show dramatic improvement?

I'm sure there has to be a feeling of confusion amongst the current staff regarding fan frustration when they just produced a Heisman trophy winning QB, and ran a pretty successful spread offense with Troy at the helm.

I'd still love to see a mid-conference OC, with a track record of success in the spread offense. Again, there are plenty of systems out there that are nearly impossible to defend when they're clicking....I'd love to see some of that innovation injected into our program.

No, he didn't "grab" his jersey - but I see why it was called... from the replay angle, the USC defender made a spin move and Person didn't keep his hands off.

As the guy spun, Persons hands ended up around the guy and they both went down.

I don't think it should have been called - but I bet it didn't look clean from the refs angle.

Agree 100% I'll take a group of hungry sophs and juniors over a group of Seniors all day every day.
I agree also. Tressel showed loyalty to his seniors..they needed to step up ...and show the way. CK led and I don't think physically he was much different from Todd. Of course it
is obvious how Jt called plays that year he had complete confidence in ck. I don't think he has a lot of confidence in either qb. TP is improving but he has a lot to learn yet!

I have not rewatched the game yet...Plan on doing it sometime soon...Just some things...

This season is not over...I understand the want from a fan standpoint for a NC, and I am sure the team wanted one as well, and it really hurts the way the last two seasons have went down and we have lost the last 2...We can work in young guys, and have a lot of room to improve...I believe that if this game was the last game of the season instead of the 2nd game of the season it would be totally different game...We will be a much better team come end of the season...

The offseason and early season injuries really have turned plans upside down some...

I believe that Mike Adams is the starting right tackle if not for his injury...With a spring practice and fall practice under his belt our O-line is not as bad, Browning is an inside guy not outside...

Beanie hurt in spring and then first game of the season...

Washington, O'neal, and DW all getting themselves in trouble...

I also believe that Robo is playing with a shoulder injury...He is a much better receiver than we have seen early in the season...

Coleman was hurt for the first game...

We have not had much time to figure out how to work Pryor in...I truly believe that Tress wanted to try and stick with TB and sprinkle in TP 10 plays or so...Don't see that happening...

Is USC a good team...Well hell yeah...We have the talent to match them tho...Are they fast...Well hell yeah...But so are we...Turn the tables...Take Mcknight away from them...Give us a healthy Beanie and play the game in Columbus and it is a different game...We don't beat them by 32 pts, but I do believe that we would win...

We remember 4 games in the past 3 seasons...The 4 loses...2 of the 4 we have played without our playmaker on offense, and who we made gameplans for...

The last two years 2008 and 2009 we have recruited every position at a high level...Not sure you could question any position...

My only thing is all the knee-jerk reaction from buckeye fans, not in this thread but in general...Fire Tress, not enough 5 stars, no speed, bad coaching, just things that make you scratch you head and wonder if they are really paying attention...

Now for my final point...I have been a big TB backer...I still think that he is a good QB, but the guy needs time...It isn't just the O-line, but the RB's and TE's don't do a good job of picking up blitzes, finding holes to get open and make themselves available when Todd is under pressure...My thing is if Sanchez is our starting QB he doesn't do anything different than TB in this game...No QB can play under the pressure he was under...Put TB as the USC QB and I think that he can put up the numbers that Sanchez put up...

Havili was wide open...THe ball to Williams for the 4th TD was a good read, but it was obviously the #1 read as Sanchez was looking there from the snap...He had time the guy got open, and he deliverd the ball...I think TB could of done the same...

Kind of a hodgepodge of thoughts, and probably could use some clarification, but most of my thoughts are in there, before watching any film...But my biggest thought is this season is not over...We just need to improve as a team, and win out...Then see where that puts us...

The biggest thing to me was where was the passion? That fire that burns inside of great football players and that desire and determination of a great team?
Unfortunately the only guys that I saw some fire from were Malcolm who played his heart out and TP.

Second thing was the d-line. No pressure, didn't fire off the ball, couldn't keep USC line from getting to the second level on our linebackers. I really thought this group was going to be something special this year. I was wrong, I'm not trying to bash these guys but Heyward has not played as well as he did at the end of last year. Wilson hasn't lived up to our high expectations for him and no DT has stepped up and been the playmaker we need.

O-line played well in the first quarter but things tailed off as USC made adjustments. I'm excited to see what the young guys can do.

I'm not giving up faith at all. Hopefully Beanie can come back this year, he really has that IT factor (Pryor also has IT). When he is on the field this team has a different confidence level. I'm with cbf40 lets win out and see where it puts us. The Big Ten looks as those it is a little stronger at the top this year than it was last year. Penn State looks legit and Wisconsin is no push over. This is not a cake walk.

Have you been living under a rock for 18 months?
Compare the pressure Jim Tressel feels in the media and from fans to the pressure that any number of coaches feel at their programs. The national media never questions Tressel or his staff. They always question the talent and the conference. Why is that? I just find it to be very bizarre.

I'm simply saying the criticism has grown quite loud ever since Glendale, AZ vs Florida, and has been outlandish since New Orleans.
The national media never questions Tressel or his staff. They always question the talent and the conference.
They questioned him a ton this season, and who else besides JT are they ripping with the talent insults? Every player is JT's handiwork, and he's had ample time to bring in his kids.

Three different radio stations today were basically saying that JT needed to be relieved of his duties, not agreeing, I love him, but there are media outlets now saying that JT needs to go.
