I would agree with you if the OL recruiting hadn't been borderline ignored up there for the past three years. They can probably use all the OL they can get right now.

^^This man gets it.

Sure Michigan has a few nice lineman on the roster like Dave Molk, Taylor Lewan, Mark Huyge, and Patrick Omameh, but that is it. Molk and Huyge will be gone and the other 2 will be upperclassmen once the 2012 class arrives on campus.

They have 4 pretty good lineman, and virtually nothing else, no real depth or up and coming youngsters that have shown they might become players. That is a major concern, as any injuries to those 4 guys and they are probably screwed.

Hoke did a pretty nice job bringing in two OL's to close out Michigan's 2011 class in getting a pair of nice sized tweeners with versatility to play either RT or Guard in Tony Posada (6'6, 315) and Chris Bryant (6'5, 330) that probably would have been recruited by the old UM, unlike the 240 pound HS lineman that Rich Rod seems to enjoy recruiting.

Better to have too many than too few though. Right now I feel like OSU has too few quality O linemen.

great to have KK on board, and i'll leave it at that. Kid's getting a lot of heat for this decision. I don't envy him having to deal with the backlash that comes with this.

The kid did not exactly handle his recruitment with a lot of class. Unfortunately, these days not many 18 year olds do. I'm not saying in any way he should have stayed with tOSU. But promising Fickell that he was staying on board if he is still coach at the end of the year, and then supposedly recruiting others to scUM. I'm not exactly feeling sorry for him coming under some pressure for his decision and the way he went about it.

apparently kalis going to michigan is breaking news on ESPN...kalis also believes the michigan-ohio border is open and 8 to 9 kids from ohio will go to michigan this year

In all the years I've been watching ESPN/SportsCenter I've never seen them interrupt with breaking news regarding a kid switching his verbal, then quoting said recruit to make sure they perpetuate the problems at a university. ESPN has outdone themselves.

Best of luck at scUM.

This situation is also very different in a lot of ways from the Boren one.

Living in Columbus, Justin Boren wanted to be a Buckeye all along, but his father (a wolverine) wanted him to play up north, Bo and Lloyd made it happen. THEN Bo dies, and Lloyd is fired(retired?) DickRod is hired and there was immediate disdain between RR (and his strength guy) and Bx3. So Justin came back to the Cbus.

This Kalis kid never played a down here, but was a Buckeye fan. Didn't have any animosity with the new Coach here and basically made a decision that I don't like, but hey, who am I to judge.

The biggest oddity to me is that this kid would go to his favorite teams' rival when there were no previously existing ties .... You don't want to be a Buckeye because of the uncertainty and likely sanctions? fine.... Go play for anyone except scUM....

I would just like to point out the hypocrisy of most tsun fans when it comes to their reaction to this situation as compared to the Justin Boren situation.

Stay classy, WalMart Wolverines, stay classy.

You are comparing apples to oranges.

First of all, Kyle Kalis is a 17 year old high school kid that is, you know, still in high school. He hasn't signed an LOI, he isn't enrolled. His verbal commitment was non-binding and it was his right to back out of it at any time for whatever reason. End of story.

Justin Boren was a young man in his early 20's that had signed an LOI, enrolled in the school, and played on the team for 2 years, and then transferred when a new coaching staff came in that he didn't like. It is entirely his right to transfer, but he was pretty much gone the moment Rodriguez was hired, he never gave it a shot or even attempted to. Again, his right. Where I have a problem with Boren is the way in which he publicly trashed Michigan and Rodriguez. There was no reason to do that, just wreaks of a kid that is crying and taking his ball and going home.

I haven't seen Kyle Kalis go on record in interviews with local news media and trash Ohio State, Fickell, or Tressel.

Who cares? I keep watching this thread...we had Orlando Pace at Ohio State and Michigan did not....does anyone know how many times O Pace beat Michigan? Good for him we will experience an entire football season, Labor day, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years before recruiting for 2012 is over....then two years before any of these kids make an impact...cant wait to not see this thread-snap I just bumped it

If I remember correctly, the UM staff, players, and fans were trashing Boren long before he said anything about RR and UM's lack of family values. They were calling him "weak" and "not willing to put in the work BARWIS!1!!1!! demanded of him."

No, he just lied to everyone when he said if Fickell remained HC he would be a Buckeye. Fast forward less than a month and he's scUM and trying to drag fellow Ohioans down to heck with him.
