Rumors are that the Chancellor of the SUNY system is stepping down to take "a job" at Ohio State.

Johnson, an electrical engineer by trade who holds dozens of U.S. patents and invented a camera to detect cancerous and precancerous cells on cervical smears, served as dean of Duke University’s engineering school and provost of Johns Hopkins University prior to her arrival at SUNY.

Seems smart and, as a engineer, hopefully pragmatic. Hope she doesn't have too large of a sense of entitlement/tone deafness re: stuff like raking side cash for sitting on outside boards. and letting herself get honored before doing shit. Ohio has its own culture and she needs to not do whatever the academic equivalent of talking about "Buckeye Stadium" and sitting in hot tubs is.

Johnson has ties to Buckeye football – her grandfather played right guard for Ohio State, graduating in 1896.

Which would mean her grandfather was born around 1874, almost 150 years ago. Either both her grandfather and father waited a while before having children, or she is waaay older than she looks.

Based on her bio, she's probably around 62 or so.

She’s 20-some years older than me, and my great-grandpa graduated OSU in 1894 (and 1897), so it doesn’t seem totally unreasonable to me.
