National Frosh Soph football Combine

Winning the WR/TE MVP was Kraig Appleton of East St. Louis High School in Illinois. Appleton, 6-foot-2 1/2 and 190-pounds, was one of the best receivers we have ever seen and the best receiver to date at the National Underclassmen Combine. He is big, strong, fast, and smooth, and just as with Milner, he is destined to become a 20-offer kid down the road. He also had a 28.5-inch vertical, 8?11? broad, 4.57 shuttle, and 4.66 40.

9/4

From O&B News...picked up 9/1 offers from Illinois, Iowa State, Nebraska, Arkansas and Mizzou. Also hearing from USC, Ohio State, Michigan, Florida, Texas and the rest of the Big 10. Wants to stay close to home (which bodes well for Missouri and Illinois).

Late surge carries Collinsville past Triad

Flyers quarterback Detchauz Wray threw for one TD and ran for another while Kraig Appleton returned an interceptions 63 yards for another score. Appleton also had four pass receptions for 180 yards, giving him nearly 400 yards receiving in his first two games.

Let's see. He interested in the 3 schools that have beaten Ohio State the past two years - and the media's darling, USC. So we stand what of a chance?

I have a feeling the kid is interested in the last two national champions, the closest big school in the big ten, and one of the best teams of the decade

Illinois didnt pass the ball much last year b/c we didnt have the overall talent and depth at the position.

Our #2 WR was injured before fall practices even began (Chris James) leaving Benn as the clear WR target. Outside of that, it was the same WR corps from the previous year and that wasnt anything reliable or special. It wasnt until late in the year that Jeff Cumberland was switched to WR and began to emerge and a legitimate threat.

So Illinois had plenty of PT to offer to top notch WRs.

Kraig Appleton wants to stay close to home too. (i.e. Illinois or Mizzou)
