Kidney stones, ain't they great?

The first was the worst. Only time in my life I wanted to die until they gave me the morphine drip at the ER. I made the mistake of going to the urgent care for the second one and they refused to give me real drugs, which was a huge mistake. For the 3rd my wife had some good shit left over from a surgery so I got in bed popped a pill and rode it out. Each of them has gotten a little bigger, but it is depressing how something so small can cause so much pain. Ever since the 3rd I chug water all day to keep my kidneys flushed. I'd rather pee every hour than go through that again. Been about 8 years since the last one.

As a 8 time recipient of lithotripsy I feel your pain. I've been a fuckin ATM for my urologist for the last 25+ years. I hope it passes quickly. Also ..... drugs are our friend.

My wife has her first and I'm lucky enough to not have any yet. They put a stent in her last friday. They have her scheduled to blast it next month if they can. Hers is double the size of a passable stone. Anyone know if the pain is worse than childbirth?
At any rate i feel for all of you who have/had them. Good luck!

Had about a dozen myself within a 5-6 year period. My dad had one the size of a pencil eraser. Stopped drinking My. Dew and stuck with a couple Michelobs a day. Haven't had one in 5 years (knock on wood). I thought my first attack, I was dying. Woke up in pain and told my wife I thought something burst in my side. After the first one, I knew what each attack was. On a side note, my wife has given birth 4 times and has had a kidney stone attack. She said she'd rather be in labor!

It's constant, uninterrupted pain. Standing doesn't help, sitting doesn't help, pressing on it doesn't help, beating Michigan 62-39 doesn't help (but it doesn't hurt either)

I am about to find out how tough I am.

Demerol...it was what was for dinner. I have a very high tolerance for pain, and I was writhing in the ER until...it shifted significantly. Then, I was flopping around on the table like an upside down flounder. They had a hell of a time getting the IV in. I feel for you.

Couldn't tough it out at work. Came home and have taken 2 vicodin. Not better yet.

That sucks. Is this your first time with them? I've been fortunate to never have them. My brother has had them a few times. First time he was young and had surgery to remove. Another time he passed one right after he walked into the local ER.

Can't they just break it up with ultrasound? You should know that your picture just appeared on the internet.
