Kevin Kuwik (Dayton Assistant Coach)

Kuwik in line for Dayton job?

Kevin Kuwik, who has been Ohio State's video coordinator the past two seasons, could be back in business as a full-time assistant coach at a Division I school.

A forum post at UDpride.com tonight credited another forum, at FlyerHoops.net, with reporting Kuwik's hiring by the Flyers' new head coach, former Ohio State assistant Archie Miller. I could not access the latter forum post because it requires a subscription.

I had been hearing since late last week that Kuwik might be on the move after current OSU assistant Jeff Boals lost out on the Fresno State head coaching job. Kuwik had been in line to replace Boals as a fulltime assistant with the Buckeyes had Boals departed.

Kuwik came to Ohio State in 2008 after spending one year as Butler's director of basketball operations. Before that, he was a fulltime assistant for eight years under Tim O'Shea at Ohio University.

Kuwik did not respond to a text message I sent him asking him to confirm his hiring by Dayton. Expect something official to be announced by Dayton shortly.

Miller makes addition to staff

By Doug Harris | Monday, April 11, 2011

Dayton basketball coach Archie Miller has hired his first assistant. He?s Kevin Kuwik, who has been on Ohio State?s staff as video coordinator for the last two years.

Before that, the 36-year-old Kuwik was director of basketball operations for Butler and spent seven years as an assistant at Ohio U. under Tim O?Shea.

The Notre Dame grad has a military background, having done two tours of duty in Iraq as part of the Indiana National Guard.

?I?m obviously very, very excited to add him to our staff,? Miller said. ?He?s an important component. He?s got great character. And the other thing I?m excited about it is his track record. If you look at who he?s worked for ? like Thad Matta (at Ohio State) and Brad Stevens (at Butler) ? he did a terrific job for all of them and got glowing reviews.?
