Desperation makes folks do many things. Read Mullainathan and Shafir's book Scarcity. Perceived deficits are not only monetary, respect, value, peer relations...all of these can trigger suboptimal thinking that result in really stupid decisions. He’s a Cincy guy who coached at OSU for a time but never attended or played for OSU and I don’t know that taking an assistant job for scUM should be enough to do more than make him casually and ignored dead to us. Putting him here with true slime like Schlichter, Barton, and Strassini seems like overkill. I think Herbstreit’s the only non-criminal here, and he’s a special kind of asshole for a host of unique reasons. Besides, if Coombs didn’t get here for thinking Tuf Borland could cover Devonta Smith one on one …
