Kenyon Martin rips Cincy over Huggins

I give up. This board is too hard to understand.
Kenyon Martin rips Cincy over Huggins

K-Mart rips Cincy at Huggins' going-away roast

Bob Huggins and Cincinnati officially ended their 16-year relationship Thursday, as the successful — and oftentimes controversial — coach received an emotional roast, which, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer, attracted approximately 6,214 people to U.S. Bank Arena.

Among the roasters were current head coaches Rick Pitino (Louisville), Tubby Smith (Kentucky) and John Calipari (Memphis), as well as about 33 of Huggins' current and former players and video tributes from Michael Jordan, Dick Vitale and Cincinnati mayor Charlie Luken.
One former Bearcat standout in particular, current Denver Nuggets forward Kenyon Martin, expressed great displeasure with the way the University of Cincinnati handled Huggins' firing.

He told the Cincinnati Enquirer that his personal affiliation with the University of Cincinnati is over and that he'd not only like his jersey to be un-retired, but he wants his name removed from his old locker and trophies, too.

Martin wasn't alone in his anger, as fans at the arena booed at any mention of Cincy President Nancy Zimpher's name with reference to the firing.

Boo hoo!!!

I'm actually upset that Huggy Bear got fired. I wanted Gene Smith to start scheduling those pussycats so we could beat his ass. Either way, I'd still like to play them every year so we can shove up their fans' pompous asses.

They're done. While I wasn't a fan of Huggins, UC basketball will become nothing without him... and fast.

That program will not be able to compete in the Big East, now or in the forseeable future.

Look for the President to try and push for the school to be reassigned to a lighter conference as soon as possible, or stay with never winning in the BE if the revenue is right.

Cincy basketball will be nothing without Huggins, now that he's been dumped unceremoniously.

And maybe one positive that will emerge is that the Cincinnatti basketball revenue line will be hit with poor attendance and that this will affect alumni support and, hey, maybe Zimpher will see that she needs sports, like it or not.

Perhaps a lesson for someone north of Cincinnatti?

Hmmm.... some UC fan hit me on this thread with some red chicklets. Didn't ID himself. Come out, come out you pussycat fan.

I hate Pussycat Basketball fans that think they can have it both ways and be an Ohio State football fan.

Thats what I am hoping will happen. Zempher doesn't have nearly the power that Holbrook does and the means to bring in more money from many other sources. I know beyond the firing of huggins, the way she has stated he goals for the university, many alumni feel that she is saying that their degrees from UC don't mean shit.

Please explain to me the hate you guys have for UC....

I am really not sure I understand it.

I am a UC grad that could not attend OSU out of high school for personal reasons. But show me where UC should even be on an OSU fans radar???? UC can't compete, nor does it try to compete with OSU on the football field...and since OSU and UC do not play each other in basketball, I can't understand the all out hate for my alma mater...I am glad Thuggins is gone. I have wanted him gone for years because of the negative image his players have given the school and the city. But for anybody to think that UC's basketball program will never recover you are being disengenious and obviously do not know the history of the program or the drive for sucessful college basketball programs in this region that you from up north refer to 'Cincytucky' (who's being arrogrant??)
in a 90 minute radius of Clifton you have UK, UofL, IU, XU, UC, and OSU...all schools with excellent basketball tradition. UC had only FIVE down trodden years under Tony Yates...but Ed Badger and Gayle Catlett both coached nationally ranked teams (includind a #1 team that was upset by Al McGwuires 1977 Marquette national championship team)...and even Tony Yates brought in two top 5 recruiting classes...

Hate UC all you want...I'll never understand it...But the PROGRAM will be fine. Too many have been brainwashed by Thuggins to see the past and the future. UC will suffer for a couple of years because of the logistical nightmare Zimpher created in recruiting with her timing...but the moment Skip Prosser steps on campus next season, that will all be forgotten.
