Game Thread Kent State at tOSU, Sept. 19th, 12pm ET, FOX

Offense has regressed.
From when? I think people forget how Peter principled Hartline was as OC. Guys seem to be getting schemed open in the passing game and it’s not primarily on Smith that Sayin is either not seeing them or missing the throws. Maybe we should be scrutinizing Billy Fessler more. In the running game, I thought the starting OL opened quite a few gaping holes today, much more so than in week 1 against a similar opponent, before the backups were a lot less effective, although I would like to see more creativity in scheme and more running out of wider formations.

Not even remotely true.

It was VERY clear to me they were working on things today. Some things are going to work, some things will not. That's the nature of the game.

Struggles in games like these are necessary sometimes and it's clear to me the coaches are still in the process of putting the right pieces in the right places. Unlike some teams (like TCUN), there is a plethora of right pieces to choose from....

From 2026. Of course the O opened holes, they were playing KSU. That shouldn't be anything less than expected.

Regressed? I'd say it's also from the perspective of failed executions.

Sayin was on track to being a Heisman candidate last year, I'm not seeing that in 26.

It's absolutely true. Not that I want to bother engaging you here, but I'll play along.

The fact remains OSU was failing on finishing drives. That's concerning. Happened last week, happened this week.

Sayin is missing reads.

3rd down attempt fails.

They had more yards per game this year!!!!!!!

Pffft. Yard stats are fools gold.
It was VERY clear to me they were working on things today.
LOL!!!!!!!! That's every game this time of year.

No way? Really?

Of course there are right things to choose from. That doesn't mean a thing, LMAO!

That was kind of what it felt like to me too. Testing out different things. They were not going to throw alot of things out there, other than to put things on tape for future opponents.

The short yardage and 4th down conversions are a little concerning. It's still early in the season.

I'm not as bothered by it in games like this - Kent is going to send the house against the short yardage plays. It's more important, in my imo, to avoid breaking out the counters to the 9 man front on short yardage in games like this than anything other than a conversion.

Ohio State is so far ahead of teams like Kent State that the short yardage stuff doesn't bother me because they don't need it yet. If they were down to Kent State at any point in time where a short yardage conversion was needed, then there are far larger issues.

If/when/once they do against teams like TCUN or Oregon or whatever, you likely will see similar formations and plays that run off of tendencies created in games like what we had today.

You sound like T-bone or one of the other idiots on 97.1. Emo mode 100% of the time if things aren't perfect. They've triggered you and it's hilarious.

On what basis are you remotely qualified to say Sayin isn't a Heisman candidate? And since when did that even matter?

You just want to be miserable over a fucking game. Life is far too short to be miserable over college kids playing football. To top that off, you don't have anything other than basic observations, without seeing practices or being in team meetings or ANYTHING that could give you context, yet here you are pretending to know something.

What happened to this freaking "tempo" we were told we would see?!? Could have definitely used it vs Texas that's for sure. The Offensive team is visibly better when we use it but yet...

There is a problem with us being predictable again

We used it early against Texas, but it doesn't make sense to use it while you're up big.
