Here are my shitty comments from the Pavlik - Taylor fight, merged from the fight vbet thread:
Pre-fight observations: Pavlik just entering the ring. This is a pro-Pavlik crowd.
Pavlik has the advantage on all measurables: 4 years younger, 1 inch taller, 1 inch reach advantage, 2 pounds heavier.
Round 1: Pretty even. Very good action. Bad Intentions was surprisingly very active, but Pavlik landed the better shots. Close round to Pavlik (HBO agrees).
Sweetest trunks ever: Pavlik is wearing trunks that mirror Ohio State's helmet, with stripes on the sides. (iambrutus later adds the following good observation: "and the block O on the left leg").
Round 2: Pavlik is getting crushed. Downed once, and hanging on for dear life.
Round 3: Solid comeback round for Pavlik. Nice mix of jabs and power shots. Bad Intentions still active. Round to Pavlik. Scores should be even now, since Bad Intentions had a 10-8 Round 2.
Round 4: Good boxing match here. This was a dead even round in my opinion, which I think means that it will go to the Champ. Bad Intentions up one point by my score. (HBO/Lederman gave it to Pavlik and has Pavlik up a point. This is a close fight. The longer it goes, the better for Pavlik. His long, skinny muscles won't tire as fast, and Taylor is known to fade late in fights).
Round 5: Dead even once again. I've watched Talor's past couple fights, and he is more motivated for this one. He was given the slight edge on HBO/Lederman's card, who now has the fight even. Pavlik is bleeding from the nose, but not badly, which is good considering it was busted open in Round 2.
Round 6: This has got to be a hard fight to judge. Pavlik is the more consistent, fundamental fighter. Taylor has the better bursts. I give this round to Pavlik, but could go either way, again. This is an even fight, and I hope it doesn't have to be decided by the judges.
Round 7: Pavlik is using his jab a lot better than I remember seeing out of him (b/c he was landing all bombs against Miranda) Pavlik -- KNOCKOUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Post-fight comments: One of the best day in sports I can remember! (this comment was made after seeing all the top 10 college football upsets and the Ohio State win). The crowd staring chanting "Kel-ly, Kel-ly" and Pavlik just starting knocking the shit out of him. The scarlet and gray trunks are bringing the title home to OHIO!
HBO just reported that Pavlik was down 3, 3, and 4 rounds on the official scorecards, respectively. It's bullshit, but typical that close rounds go to the champ in title fights. Thankfully, Pavlik took matters into his own hands.
