Kelly Pavlik (official thread)

it looks like pavlik/duddy next. tito can't make 160.

ESPN - Pavlik-Duddy bout probably set for MSG in June - Boxing

Arum said as long as Pavlik keeps winning, he'll make three defenses this year -- against Duddy in June and then again in September and December.

"Kelly is not under contract to any television network and we will fight on our terms," he said, adding that he hoped he can make a deal with HBO for the June fight. "We will not be beholden to anybody. All of my guys are going to fight."

Arum added that he wants Pavlik's three remaining bouts this year to take place away from pay-per-view.

"We want the exposure," he said. "We believe we have something special here and the only way to build it up is to let people know Kelly and see him. I'll make him the hottest guy around."

good news.

Duddy's gash could affect Pavlik fight

Monday, February 25, 2008 Joe Maxse

Plain Dealer Reporter
Forget about Saturday's heavyweight unification title bout between IBF champ Wladimir Klitschko and WBO champ Sultan Ibragimov. It was terrible.
Of more interest on the Madison Square Garden undercard was the controversial majority decision given to Ireland's John Duddy (24-0, 17 KOs) in his middleweight affair against Walid Smichet (17-4-3, 13 KOs). Duddy suffered a severe cut above his left eye and put on a late-round rush to win, 98-92, on two judges' cards, while the third judge had it a 10-round draw.

WINKY WRIGHT WANTS PAVLIK FIGHT
By G. Leon

Last night elite pound for pounder Winky Wright made it clear to Boxingtalk.com that there's nothing he wants more than a fight with undefeated, undisputed middleweight champion Kelly "The Ghost" Pavlik. "All they have to do is want to make a fight and we'll give the fans what they want to see. There isn't a better middleweight fight than me and Kelly right now and I'm ready to give him his first loss," said Wright. John Duddy, who appeared to be the frontrunner to face Pavlik next, suffered sever lacerations to his face last Saturday night, thus making Pavlik opponentless for his June HBO date. Full interview with Wright to follow tomorrow. Remember where you heard it first! (3:28 PM EST)

Middleweight champion Kelly Pavlik relaxes while search for next opponent continues

Monday, March 10, 2008 Joe Maxse

Plain Dealer Reporter
Middleweight champion Kelly Pavlik is going to play some golf in Florida. He will let the matter of his next opponent rest with his handlers while he enjoys a little sun.
Since Ireland's John Duddy was scratched after being terribly cut in his most recent bout, speculation about who will face Pavlik in Madison Square Garden on June 7 has been anybody's guess.
While it looked like undefeated Giovanni Lorenzo (26-0, 18 KOs) of the Dominican Republic would have been a viable opponent, especially since the WBC made him its No. 1 contender, the list of would-be challengers continues to grow.

Youngstown middleweight boxing champion Kelly Pavlik to face Gary Lockett in first title defense

Friday, March 14, 2008 Greg Beacham

Associated Press
Las Vegas- Unbeaten middleweight champion Kelly Pavlik will meet Welsh contender Gary Lockett in his next fight, promoter Bob Arum said.
Pavlik (33-0, 29 KOs) and Lockett are likely to fight at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, N.J., on June 7 in Pavlik's first defense of his WBC and WBO 160-pound titles since beating Jermain Taylor last year. Pavlik took both belts from Taylor in Atlantic City in one of last year's most thrilling bouts, and their rematch last month was an entertaining non-title fight at a heavier catch-weight.
