Awesome. I have needed something, anything, to get me interested in boxing again as a sport in general. Knock his head off Kelly, and Go Bucks!

theres a lot of really good, young, exciting fighters in boxing right now. miguel cotto, antonio margarito, paul williams, chad dawson, andre berto, manny pacquaio, david haye, yuriorkis gamboa, james kirkland, timothy bradley. you should check them all out.

thanks for the list, and I will start this weekend :wink2:. I don't currently get HBO at home, which seems to have most of the boxing, and makes it hard for me to catch the fights. I will reconsider my DirecTv package. But I watched a lot of sweet fights growing up as my dad always had a soft spot for it, and I was just with him. I also admit that MMA came in and swooped up my demographic in the past few years, and my violence quotient has been met and surpassed with the UFC. I look forward to a change of pace and something new to delve into.

Pavlik, Hopkins bring contrasting styles into bout Opponent tries to get Youngstown fighter to make $250,000 bet on knockout

NEW YORK: One fighter was the aggressor, making the big moves and going for it all. The other was more evasive, biding his time and defending himself.
Kelly Pavlik and Bernard Hopkins were a contrast in styles at their news conference Tuesday. They will be again Saturday in their 170-pound bout in Atlantic City, but then the roles will reverse.
Four days before the fight, Hopkins was his bombastic self, trying to bait his opponent into betting $250,000 that Pavlik will become the first boxer to knock out the 43-year-old.
Pavlik, the 26-year-old undefeated middleweight champion from Youngstown, has 30 knockouts in 34 career bouts. Promoter Bob Arum deflected the dare before his boxer even stepped to the podium, and Pavlik spoke briefly and without bluster.
''I haven't one fight, ever, predicted a KO,'' Pavlik said calmly. ''I don't train eight hard weeks with a brutal workout regimen and put my body through what I do just to knock somebody out. I go in there to win ? 12 rounds. If a knockout comes, that's great.''

For some reason i think it'll be a boring ass fight unless Hopkins truly has lost it.

Otherwise expect him to hold and grab and hug all damned night.
THats just what B Hop does. Finds a way to steal rounds and give himself just enoug of a reason to win. O ya, and fiht dirty, then bitch when someone does it back. Kellys got this. PRIDE OF YOUNGSTWON!!!!!!

Just watched the replay and all things considered this was a really dumb fight for Pavlik to take in the first place. His advisors owe him an apology. He's still got the title, but his image was crushed - nice paycheck, though. He moved up in weight, made himself slower in a fight where he needed all the speed he could find.

Hopkins surprised me when he talked to Kelly after the fight. Lots of positive comments and advice in a respectful manner. This fight was totally one-sided, though.

Top Rank and HBO are in discussions for split-site doubleheader on Feb. 21. Arum told ESPN.com that if the deal is worked out it would look like this: ex-welterweight titlist Miguel Cotto would return from his loss to Margarito to face either Kermit Cintron or Jose Soto Karass in Atlantic City, N.J., to be followed on the broadcast by Kelly Pavlik returning from his loss to Bernard Hopkins to defend the middleweight title against mandatory challenger Marco Antonio Rubio at the Chevy Center in his native Youngstown, Ohio. In each arena, the other bout would be shown live on big screens, Arum said. "There's conversation, but it's not a deal yet," Arum said. "But it would be a great night for boxing. HBO came up with the idea and I like it."

[FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]Pavlik, Cotto PPV twinbill!
Promoter Bob Arum revealed today that Top Rank is planning a major pay-per-view telecast on February 21 featuring WBC/WBO middleweight champion Kelly Pavlik defending his title, plus two division champion Miguel Cotto fighting for the world title. The telecast will be split between two locations. Pavlik is expected to face Marco Antonio Rubio, while Cotto is expected to face Michael Jennings for the WBO welterweight belt vacated by Paul Williams.

hbo and showtime weren't interested in the fights so arum had to make it a ppv.
