I've always liked them
If you ever want an example of why a mid major coach at either football or basketball should take an upgraded job in the BCS or above what they have look no further.
Hobbs was a former Jim Calhoun assistant at UConn on the 99 national title team. Great pedigree and built up a down George Washington program into a top of the table A-10 team on the verge of making national discussion after a 26 and 1 regular season and top 10 national ranking in 05-06.
Hobbs get hit with a Washington Post article about his recruitment of players from a basketball factory Philadelphia Lutheran and a young man who took 6 years to graduate high school Omar Williams. Williams did graduate GW in 4 years. Hobbs went for some border line academic guys until the Post article hit and caused the school a black eye.
Fast forward to today and George Washington has lost 4 games in a row including back to back games to Coppin State and Longwood. Hobbs went 9-17 last year after leading GW to 3 NCAA's tourney appearances a row. This season looks like another long year and the shine of promise of one Mr. Karl Hobbs is long gone.
