I have misplaced my pants.
In regards to "the minimum that he's supposed to do," please explain what he could have done, more. He was 4 for 5 in the playoffs, missing just the 50+ yarder against Tennessee. I don't remember that kick, but it doesn't seem to be important to the way the game ended. He was 2/2 against Oregon, but I don't think either kick was very important. 0/0 against Texas, so... no comment there. But 2/2 against Notre Dame, and those were both important. One was 30-39 yards and one was 40-49 yards. What else could / should he have done in that game? Or any of the other games? All well and good, but what he did in the CFP is the minimum that he's supposed to do. The only reason it's being recognized is because of how he crapped the bed in The Game. Surely, we're planning to bring in some competition when the portal is open.
And I get it - we're OHIO STATE. A kicker SHOULD make both of those kicks against Notre Dame. A kicker SHOULD make all of his extra point attempts (and that's why I didn't mention it in the first paragraph). But, aside from making the Tennessee game 45-17 instead of 42-17, what else are you expecting from your kicker in the playoffs?
(Note that I'm just talking about the playoffs. If you're talking about regular season - mostly The Game - then I can see what you're talking about.)
