OK, so a position opened up within the company but out in Dallas. I sent in the resume, but wasn't 100% clear on the specs of the job. During the interview I find out it's 100% sales related. I went to school for computers/IT/business.........and I am NOT a salesperson by any stretch of the imagination. I know, you're saying "but BN27, dropping F bombs every other second and ranting about NDs schedule is perfect salesmenship"......somehow this doesn't translate well to the business world.
Anyway......I'm one of 6 people applying for the job. The job I do now deals with computers, but is in the sales division of my company, so this new job is the next step up. But seriously.........I suck as a salesman. I'm Tommy Calahan in Tommy Boy. Here's the question:
Do I take the next step and eventually the job if offered......a job that would move me to Texas where I know 0 people within about a billion mile radius, knowing full well that I suck as a salesman? Should I quit my whining and learn how to be a salesman even though that's not what I went to school for, nor is it really what I want to do?
PS, don't tell the girlfriend......she doesn't know yet :2004:
