There are two acceptable places for men to have their cell phone, and they're both in the pocket.
If you're a regular person, like me, your phone can easily go in your pocket. If you keep it on vibrate, you will still feel it vibrating there. If your phone doesn't vibrate hard enough for you to feel it, don't worry, because if you have it on vibrate, chances are you aren't really in a position to take that call anyway.
If you're somebody who has to wear a suit, and doesn't want a ton of stuff jingling around in their pockets, the very same holder you use to clip to your belt will clip to your pocket, so all you can see is the clip. That looks much much less tacky than having it on your belt.
My dad wears it on his belt, but he also wears a fanny pack, so he's not exactly the paragon of fashion. Me? I am.
Braid belts > all, though, don't be fucking knocking those. I still wear one at times.
