I got called on a civil case a couple of years ago. We found for the plaintiff against the insurance company. She was a gold digger that was trying to become rich via suing insurance companies for anything and everything that she could. She had done this three other times and this accident was truly that an accident as it was not her fault. The defense attorney however sliced and diced her on the stand as well as her quack doctor. Her eyes got real big when she found out we found in her favor. It didn't last long however, as we gave her only her time off work and some medical prescriptions the insurance company hadn't paid. Roughly $1,500. Her attorney called me at home and asked why such a small amount? I told him the jury thought that four times doing this type of sting was enough and the insurance company's attorney proved to us that she was faking most of her injuries and she was lucky to get what she did. I further told him "Oh yeah...we didn't like you either." He was a typical ambulance chasing sleezeball attorney and was very disrespectful towards most of the witnesses and tried to impress us with his medical knowledge. The plaintiff's attorney was very smooth and figured out real quick that the jury members did not have medical degrees. Her kept everything simple and easy for us.

By the way they would not let us take notes during the trial. Does anyone know the legal reason for this??????

Jury Duty

I just got my first ever summons for Jury Duty, amazing since I have been voting since I was 18. May 29th is the date. Hopeful since I have to go I will at least have some good trials, Maybe try to give someone the chair for littering or something :)

Question to those of you that have done it, how late are you usually there during the day? Just trying to figure out if I need to take off work at night or if I was good to go.

I was called for jury duty twice. Once, my permanent residence was in Columbus, but I was going to school in Cleveland. I got out of it for that. Second, the notice card said to call the night before to get instructions on where to go and stuff, so I did. The recording said to call back the next night (jury duty was a week long). So I called back the next night. The recording said not to bother calling back - jury duty is complete.

Served a couple of weeks this summer. We all read and watched movies. We had to report by 9:00 am and were usually dismissed by 2:00 pm. I got my full pay too. None of us were seated for a jury. In fact, none of us were even polled.

I tell 'em I used to work for the DA - and also the Loyola Death Penalty clinic trying to get murderers off. Everybody bumps me.

Got swept into a jury panel where the peremptory challenges all got burned, and was the foreman that convicted some crackhead chick for six robberies on senior citizens. :banger:

(watch out of being forman. They said after each one "So sayeth Gatorubet - Forman" She will come looking for me in twenty years:biggrin: )

I got called for jury duty earlier this year... I was called out into a jury pool twice but never picked for the jury. As soon as they found out I worked in the media they moved on to the other people.
