Juniors - who stays and who goes?

The only one I think should go is Beanie. I'd love him to stay, but another year of battling injuries would only hurt his draft stock. If he goes now, he'll be a rich man in about 6 months.

The other guys, IMO, would be making a big mistake by leaving early.

Russel? Coleman? Honestly, I thought safety was the weakest position on our D beyond DT. Coleman had a great second half of the year but struggled early on. I think Hines was our best safety this year. Hartline had an OK season but I'm not really impressed...if I was an NFL comish, I wouldn't take him before the 4th round. He is probably our best WR but our WR's just weren't that strong this year. This is not a bash, just my honest opinion. Gonzo was a late first round pick and he was lightyears ahead of Hartline imo. Maybe a good combine puts him up to 3rd round but I don't think that's good enough to leave early. Beanie is likely gone and I would do the same if I were him...with his injuries, his NFL career won't be long, so start it now. Plus with Pryor and Boom to likely pick up more carries next year, it may be the right time for him. I would love for him to stay but I think the smart thing may be to go. SO... we should see almost everyone return imo.

Beanie stays. Beard needs to be longer. What if he gets drafted by Minnesota? Long beard needed in those parts.

Minnesota would be the last of the 32 teams to draft Beanie. They already have A. Peterson. Thinking about it could you imagine Peterson and Beanie on the same team in the backfield together.WOW Wow

Coleman's physical tools are very impressive and he'd put on a nice show at the combine. I still don't expect him to go. Again, this is a deep safety class.

Hartline doesn't improve his draft status by staying IMO, so it's whether or not he wants another year of college ball. Hartline was a 4th rounder last year, is a 4th rounder this year, and will be a 4th rounder next year.

I'd be surprised if anyone other than Beanie left. Nobody else is a first rounder, and most could improve stock with another year.

Hartline is the only guy I think who could leave or stay and do about the same in the draft, but I don't think another year would hurt. If our passing game is more prominent next year (which I expect will be the case), it'll get him a little more recognition, which is certainly not bad.

If Small leaves, I hope it's to another team. He could be a first rounder if he gets it together.

Just my humble predictions:

Beanie - Im torn. With his toe injury earlier this season, he see's that one injury can cost him alot of time, so he might as well get paid to rehab an injury rather than watching his draft stock slip if he were to be injured again next year (should he stay). In the end, lets make sure Boom is ready to start in 09, cuz Beanie is gone in the first 10 picks this April.

Hartline - He has the talent to go to the NFL and eventually pan out. He will need to stay for a simple reason - national relevance. I think the kid's performance this season would put him somewhere in the late 3rd round. This isn't his really fault, he was working with a freshman QB and a cupboard full of playable WR's. He will stay and become our #1 reciever. He will then wind up on someones pro team after being taken late second round in 2010.

DWash - He's coming back for sure. He needs to at least start the entire season and garner more national attention before diving into the draft pool.

Coleman - He has the tenacity, the experience and the tangibles to be a pro. I think he came on stronger late in the season when a lot of people stopped watching us - bad timing. He will be back for his senior season and rate somewhere in the top 5 safties in the draft in 2010.

Russell - Staying. He was very overshadowed this year with the strong performance by Seniors in the backfield (Animal, Freeman, Jenkins). He's not a household name and needs to learna bit more before trying the next level. He will get drafted in 2010, but that will all come down to his play next season with the Bucks. We need him to step up and carry the load with Coleman. The spotlight will certainly be on the backfield.

Small - This guy and Beanie are the toughest to call. Small has speed and vision to certainly "make it" as a talented KR on the next level, ala Hester or Sproles. If he went pro this year, thats what he would be drafted as - a return specialist, but it would be somewhere in the late 3rd-early 4th round. With the talents he has, thats not where he COULD be going if he stays. I think he has a heart-to-heart with Tress this offseason. He will be back more so to redeem himself after a lackluster season. He will come abck and be our #2 WR next year. He has great hands and will be key on third downs, along with Sanzo. Few NFL GM's want to gamble on problematic players, so his image will be high on his priority next year.

I think Hartline is the only one who goes to the draft.
Unless Small transfers as well.

And about Beanie, why does everyone seem to believe that this fella's mind revolves around money? He appears to have a pretty good head on his shoulders, understands things pretty well. Regardless of what happens, he will be a very wealthy man. Even if he shreds his ACL, a degree from tOSU is nothing to be embarassed about, it'll take him pretty far.

Beanie-Gone. Simply put

Hartline- Stay. Why would he leave? Sure, he has many friends from the senior class but a final year as the #1 guy with a Sophomore Pryor will make him a possible first rounder

Anderson- Stay. Not trying to put the guy down but at times he seems to disappear in games. He's a very steady guy though and another year could get himself in the top two rounds also

Coleman- Stay. He's everywhere on the field but IMO he's a SURE first rounder if he stays for an extra year.

Washington- I would've said GONE last yera before his troubles. However, he's been on the bench quite a bit lately and he'll come back to be that #1 corner for his final year.

Small- IF he leaves it'll be as a transfer not to the NFL.

Beanie goes. Everyone else stays.

I don't even know why people are mentioning Hartline. Kid had 21 catches this year, and he's not exactly a freak of nature physically. He'd be lucky to go late in the second day at this point.

They are mentioning Hartline because the thread is titled "JUNIORS - who stays and who goes?" And since Hartline is a JUNIOR....

I'm pretty sure he was wondering why people were considering him to be such a high draft pick if he were to declare since he hasn't really done anything to warrant it.

But if thats the case, then shouldnt he also be wondering the same for Washington, Coleman, Small, Russell?? Besides, in this thread, everyone is projecting him in the 3rd or 4th rounds, which isnt very high at all.
