I wouldn't read anything into that -- signing with OSU sounds like a done deal.23Skidoo;666516; said:I don't like that he's seeing USC-ND next week, though.
Beating USC for the NC could go a long way in this one ?

Would you pass up a free trip to LA and tickets to USC/ND?

Joseph Barksdale, one of the most coveted high school football players in the country, was spending a recent afternoon doing a customary exercise.
No, he wasn't lifting weights.
Nah, he wasn't running sprints to keep in shape.
And no, he wasn't doing drills to keep his football skills sharp.
The 6-foot-6 senior defensive tackle at Cass Tech was raking leaves.
Raking leaves?
"Yeah, that's how it is," a chuckling Barksdale said over the phone.
Guess that's one way to remain humble.
It would be hard to remain that way when you consider the demand for the big man who can break off a 4.9 in the 40-yard dash.
Barksdale says he is considering a who's who of college football royalty. The top five on his list: Louisiana State, Ohio State, Southern Cal, Notre Dame and Florida State. He was at the OSU-Michigan game Saturday as a guest of the Buckeyes.
He was selected to play in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl on Jan. 6 in San Antonio.
His play -- and his six sacks and 10 tackles for a loss -- is a main reason the Technicians got better as the season went along.
They advanced to the second round of the Division 1 playoffs, losing to Denby, 19-13, and finishing the season 7-4.
"He's a kid you can lean on and depend on because he strives to succeed," Cass Tech coach Thomas Wilcher said. "He wants to be successful in life.
"And he makes it that way on the field, off the field and in the classroom."
Barksdale carries a 3.5 grade-point average, so it comes as no surprise what the No. 1 factor in his decision will be.
"Academics are the No. 1 priority," said Barksdale, who plans to visit each of the five campuses over the next month.

23Skidoo;669889; said:You can't change that USC/ND is a big game. The thing that worries me is that they'll get the chance to give a last impression.
But it wouldn't surprise me if he's just getting a free ride either.
