Jordan Hicks (Philadelphia Eagles)

No way to sugar coat it....losing out on a great young man and player like Hicks stings. Having said that, LB was the one position where I felt a "miss" this year doesn't hurt nearly as bad. I'd be MUCH happier if we did land Jordan, but this is a miss we can handle.

My thoughts exactly. It stings because for me he is a local kid. But if there is one position on this team that we are STACKED at it's Linebacker. So while it is disappointing it's not a catastrophe. The sun will rise and set tomorrow.

Good luck to Jordan in Austin.

All k2 means is that it's been a disappointing year for recruiting. It has.

I think everyone understands what k2 meant, but missing out on a couple of big names late in the process doesn't make this a disappointing year for recruiting or any other facet of OSU football. This was always going to be a smallish class, so of course the team-rankings sites that put a significant emphasis on quantity were going to have this group rated a bit lower than our on-the-field ranking. But even if Henderson and James and Brown all end up going elsewhere, calling this smallish top-20 class a disappointment does a disservice to the coaches and the quality recruits they worked hard to make a part of this program.

Losing Hicks in itself is disappointing, same with Floyd, but on a whole this is another recruiting year to be proud of.

Agreed, and the original post also lumped in the Anderson "loss" as if it were something to be dramatic about. I don't agree with that assessment at all. I think we got what we needed there and didn't get what we didn't need.

Not one Cincy news channel breaking it.. wow.

The Cincy news channels only show an interest if the sport or player involves UC or Kentucky...if one of those two were a finalist, they'd be falling all over themselves to get up there. Channel 5 opened up their newscast last week with 'breaking news' that UK was voted #1 in basketball. Most the people at these Cincy news stations either grew up/live in Kentucky and/or they root for UK. Same with the local paper (except for Doc).

Yeah, horrible. After the Rose Bowl win, probably the most important defender on the team (Heyward) announces he'll return for another year along with the top LB (Homan) and DB (Chekwa), who both kicked around at entering the draft.

We lose out on a superstar recruit at a position where we have superstar recruits (Bell,Sabino,Sweat,Klein) who can barely get on the field (and that was without Ty Moeller, who will be back in the mix for 2010).

Best of luck to Hicks, hopefully he tears it up in Austin.

like i said that was towards the recruiting letdowns.

Linebacker recruit Jordan Hicks compares Texas coach Mack Brown and Ohio State coach Jim Tressel: Video
By Doug Lesmerises, The Plain Dealer
January 29, 2010, 4:44PM

Stability was important to linebacker recruit Jordan Hicks. The questions about Florida coach Urban Meyer helped turn the West Chester Lakota West senior away from the Gators, and Hicks' high school coach, Larry Cox, said today he believed that Ohio State finished second as Hicks said he will sign with Texas on National Signing Day on Wednesday.

During the recruiting process, Hicks found that Ohio State coach Jim Tressel and Texas coach Mack Brown, who have become good friends in the last couple years, had a lot in common. But Texas was right for Hicks.

I keep getting this mental image of a wedding party. JT is the best man and walking down the aisle is the woman he loves. She loves JT too - but like a brother.

I get this image a lot this time of year.

I saw Muschamp out at dinner tonight in Fairfield. I'm assuming he was in town to be there with Jordan. That also means Texas and Jordan must have known for awhile. Best of luck! I wanted him to the Bucks bad but like many people have already said, we are stacked at LB so not a big loss in the grand scheme of things.
