John Madden (telestrator madness)

Madden at his most annoying was still better than the typical clowns that get relegated to your run-of-the-mill 1PM Browns or Bengals game - or anyone on ESPN.

True enough...can't wait for Bryant Gumbel, Mark May, and Norman Einstein himself (Theismann) to do Sunday night football...

I liked Madden. Definitely not the best lately, but far better than pretty much every other football color guy who is on TV on a regular basis. I hate Cris Collinsworth, so I'm not looking forward to him taking Madden's place. At least there's still Al Michaels..

Still sucks that such an iconic figure is stepping down. I certainly wish him the best, he seems like a good dude and he really knows the game.

I agree. I always wondered how someone could accomplish so much yet be so goofy acting, but he pulled it off with 5 stars. The madden games, when I was a kid are stick stuck in my head with quotes.

He'll remember that number
Where'd that truck come from?
Pow!

You could hear Pat sneak in with a "There's a man down" every once in awhile.

Oh no! :shake:

Madden to Return as Analyst

Coincidence? He's not saying, but the timing couldn't be more interesting. Hall of Famer and recently-retired NFL icon John Madden has decided to return to the booth as a second analyst for select Sunday night telecasts later in the season. One can only speculate if it really is just about calling one more Brett Favre game, December 20th when the Vikings visit Carolina.

"It really isn't just about Brett. I mean, sure, I miss him, but I miss the game even more. Honest," Madden said.

Favre returns, and Madden follows

The only reason I posted this is that is kind of interesting to see what a "telestrator" looked like back in the 70s...Boom!

Hell, when I first saw the photo I thought he was working on the back side of a microwave (or an Amana Radarange).....Boom!

and back in the early 70s I had one of those too.

I have no idea what the telestrators look like today, but I guess they that would be fairly small and look something like an iPad......Boom!
