Joey Porter on Colts-Steelers Officiating

Did the refs make Bettis fumble that ball?

Yes. Do you think a ball just pops out like that with the game sealed and eveyone having Kodak moments on the Steeler sidelines?

I'm thinking maybe a high-level conspiracy. Play some slow motions clips on your home entertainment system and look at closely at those refs faces. Now, look at the pictures of the bums from the grassy knoll and the Watergate plumbers. Same guys? I'm telling you, this may be a conspiracy at the highest level of the NFL. :susp: :roll1:

At least they got the coin toss right this time.

"i'm trying to be a good teammate, but we had some protection problems"
Translation: "my collar was a little tight."

I guess the refs forgot they were supposed to make the Colts win when they overlooked Faneca's offsides on the 4th and 1 play which would have given the ball to the Colts about 3 minutes sooner. THis after they spotted an Indy OL barely move in the 1st quarter. :roll1:

:tibor:

I can't stand players that talk trash. Porter is a dipshit, no doubt about it, but he backed up his talk on Sunday.

My point exactly. The funny thing is, if, in the heat of the moment, Peyton just exploded with "Jesus, I was running for my life, no one ever blocked Porter, I couldn't let Marvin get open..." he could have apologized for a heat-of-the-moment outburst (and probably wouldn't have had to), and no one would have thought anything of it. Instead, he comes with the contrived "I'm trying to be a good teammate here" crap, and it sounds completely phony, and he insults his line. Oh well, I'm sure he'll get a pass on that too.
They weren't exactly stellar...

No, they were bad. My point was that if he had just said they played bad in anger of losing, he would have been alright. Instead, he concocted the "I'm trying to be a good teammate" crap, and it sounds completely used-car-salesmen like.
Why are the 2 any different? He's saying his line sucked. They did suck.

I think his point was:

It's easier to forgive someone who says something without thinking than someone who stops to think, and then says it anyways.

Yeah, that's pretty much it. If you want to be a "good teammate" don't blame someone else. If you don't care, then go ahead and blame them. But don't make shit up to cover your own ass, and then call them out anyway. The funny thing is he didn't like what Vanderjackoff said a few years ago...then he basically does the same thing to his line.

IT WAS A CONSPIRACY! Ok, my boy TroyP has been the victim of at least 2 conspiracies. First, the B10-planted trainer who accdiently numbs the leg of SC's best defensive player right before the Iowa-SC Orange Bowl.

Now, the NFL conspiracy to get preferred Super Bowl matchups. I was watching this game taped on Tivo. A little way into the review for the interception call, the screen goes blank. It stays this way for several minutes. Finally, Directv puts up a notice on the screen "We're aware that this channel isn't working. Please don't call". Then suddenly the screen comes back and the Colts are celebrating a TD.

I'm very confused at this point. Well, after the kickoff the announcers begin to recap the strange events. When they get to the Troy P play, the audio is cut off. By the time the audio is returned, the announcer is done with the explanation and play starts.
