Jimbo Fisher's FSU Budget Claims Don't Match Reality

On Wednesday's ACC football coaches teleconference, Florida State coach Jimbo Fisher had interesting thoughts about finances.
Jimbo: "We don't have that big a budget. We're in the middle of the ACC...some schools in the country have double, triple budget we have."- Brendan Sonnone (@osfsu) October 21, 2015

He's wrong.

Yeah but that doesn't account for the police fund, a new and tighter ship every year, the pretty horsies, and of course the hair plugs.

Ex-FSU official: Football players got special treatment in sex assault cases

USATSI_8512732.jpg

The former director of Florida State's Victim Advocate Office said in a deposition obtained by the Associated Press and New York Times that Seminoles football players received special treatment and her office had seen nearly 40 football players accused of either sexual assault or "intimate partner" violence over the last nine years.

There have been 20 victims who alleged sexual assault by FSU football players over the last nine years, according to the June deposition from former director Melissa Ashton, who said most of those victims ultimately declined to press student conduct charges on the players based on a fear of retaliation. Ashton said she could only recall one of the 40 players being found responsible, according to the Times.

Ashton believes that football players got special treatment during the original investigations, in part by those investigating the allegations allowing the players to reach out to “an athletic department official who helps them get access to outside lawyers,”according to the AP.

Ashton provided her deposition as part of former student Erica Kinsman's civil lawsuit against Florida State for the school allegedly failing to properly respond to sexual assault allegations Kinsman made against Jameis Winston. Kinsman is involved in federal lawsuits against FSU and Winston, and she was also part of a documentary in which she uses her name to tell her story.
