At least I'm consistent--so I got that and total consciousness going for me. I don't doubt that my position towards him will soften with time and I'll probably have a more balanced view of good and bad regarding his tenure.

Yeah, I'm not faulting you over your stance. I don't even have an opinion on whether he should be honored with the team or not in any upcoming events. I don't particularly care one way or the other on that one (at least not in the short term).

For me, however, I will definitely remember the results and players on the field during his tenure much more than anything that happened between the end of 2010 and the hiring of Urban Meyer.

I think it's okay to say you can condemn a wrongdoing and still value the person who committed it. Remember all those stories about JT being there for Clarett after he left OSU? This was a breech of contract, serious but not something that puts a person's character in an entirely new light, like, say, what happened at PSU.

If he's there, at some point before or after, they would need to work in a time for JT to go on record stating that he regrets the effect his actions had on the university, but that it's a great school committed to doing things the right way, and he's glad to have been part of it. That's sufficient, IMO.

Or he & the missus could come hang out in the secret BP bunker with me, if we had one, which of course we don't.

How firm thy friendship, right?

Former Ohio State football coach Jim Tressel joining Channel 3 as special contributor

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Former Ohio State University head football coach Jim Tressel is joining the WKYC Channel 3 team as a special contributor. His weekly report, "A Moment With Jim Tressel," will air each Wednesday during the Gannett-owned station's 7 p.m. newscast.

Tressel, 59, was the head coach at Ohio State from 2001 to 2011. In February, he accepted a nonathletic department position at the University of Akron, where he started his coaching career as an undergraduate assistant for the Zips in 1975. He is the school's new vice president of strategic engagement, a position created for him.

"Jim's national championships as head football coach at Ohio State and Youngstown State universities are well-known to all, but his motivational speeches and best-selling books will be the basis of our 'A Moment with Jim Tressel.' " Channel 3's president and general manager Brooke Spectorsky is quoted saying in a statement released this morning by the station.

Tressel has a bachelor?s degree from Baldwin-Wallace, a master?s degree in education from the University of Akron, and two honorary doctorates.

"Jim motivates with passion but leads with compassion," said Virgil Dominic, Channel 3's interim news director. "We envision a weekly segment that takes daily news stories and makes them teachable moments."

"Jim is a truly exceptional leader," said Luis Proenza, president of the University of Akron. "In his new role as our VP for Strategic Engagement, he is responsible for student success, from application and recruitment to graduation and beyond, what we are calling the Akron Experience. We think his weekly television segments will only add to to his community outreach and help grow the Akron experience."

I look forward to him joining Paul Brown and Woody Hayes as coaches with their name on the stadium.

I'm fine with Meyer, but Tressel at Akron and with Akron doing Plastic like they do, it makes me want to join forces honestly.

The third golden era of Ohio State football was great. Hope this is the beginning of the fourth.

And I will watch KYC channel 3 tomorrow at 7 - 7:30 Wed for you Coach T with no expectation of football. Your positive impact on our program went well beyond the field.

Thank you for every single day you were our coach, though like former Presidents, you will always be Coach Tressel for Buckeyes out of respect if nothing else.
