I think you're right and they keep him, but they are shooting themselves in the foot in the head coaching search. Most of the team will transfer, so Knowles install time resets. Is the next guy gonna be okay with 3 years before the defense is good?

Life sure does come at you fast. What a difference 11 months make. From bailing on the national champs to take a job at a conference foe with national title hopes and now your boss got the axe and you are probably next on the chopping block.

There's an episode of King of The Hill, where Hank and Co find out the high school groundskeeper is about to get fired and lose his pension because the field is so bad, so they start taking care of it in secret and giving all the credit to Smitty. They start winning games because Hank is tweaking the grass length and moisture for each opponent, so people start calling Smitty the Wizard of Sod, and he develops a huge ego and goes on radio shows to brag.

Reminds me of Knowles.
