Jim Harbaugh's Gonna be Mad

I guess I don't understand the intent of the thread. I have not seen that this kid was recruited by Stanford and from the looks of his stats and M.O. he is probably better suited for the Ivy League anyway.

Just noting, in light of Harbaugh's recent tirade towards Michigan, that there's no way this kid gets into Harvard without playing football.

Jim Harbaugh will significantly improve that program......I know a safety who went to play for him as a Frosh 2 years ago, and he said that Jim was a prick but definately kept everyone in line and demanded respect

I don't think he's the type of coach you're gonna get buddy-buddy with but will definately succeed with

Polishing a turd is just what it sounds like, at the end of the day they are still Stanford, if you are a decent player in the pac 10 then what does that school have to offer, for the athelete, that USC (Sourthern Cali has nicer weather, and a much better place for a college kid), Cal (Berkeley is a respectable school and close enough to Standford that if you want to stay in the area, you are) or Oregon? They may be able to compete but to contend is a different story.

It's possible to win there.....it's just gonna take the right system and minor increase in recruiting.......i guess after listening to my buddy, and hearing some interviews with him, I trust he knows what he's doing.....i think that there is a shocking number of coaches out there who have no clue how to run a program/college system......Harbaugh isn't one of those people

It's possible, he's just going to have a hard time recruiting top quality players. USC has a lot to offer right now with the fact that you get a ton of TV time and odds are if you are great on that team, you're going in the NFL draft.

Harbaugh has already called out Petey in a way, basically saying if SC doesn't win it all then it's Pete's fault, I foresee a bad ending to that. I do like the fact that he basically said that Michigan's recruitment standard isn't as high when you can play football, I found that amusing but it wasn't really news, though it did take balls to say.

So, we'll see, he'll deffinately have time to build a program there, if he wins 3 games a year he's doing better than the coaches before him.

Unlike Cal the girls at Stanford shave their legs. Eugene sucks. USC is a good school but it's not in the same league as Stanford (a few noted colleges excepted), and yes that does appeal to some athletes.

Stanford apparently appeals to enough athletes to have won the overall college athletics award for 12 straight years.

National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics - Directors Cup

Cleveland, Ohio - With the conclusion of the College World Series, Stanford University has continued its record winning streak in the U.S. Sports Academy Directors' Cup competition for the NCAA Division I. The Cardinal has won its 12th consecutive award, presented annually by NACDA, the United States Sports Academy and USA Today to the best overall collegiate athletics programs in the country.

Yeah, for the student who doesn't think he's going pro and actually wants a really nice degree then Stanford is there, Cal isn't really like that though, I have known a lot of women who were attending there and they shaved a lot more than thier legs :wink2: More than anything the big reason not to go there is you can't get a fucking steak anywhere near that school, it's all vegan shit, with one burger place (that burger place is awesome though).

I would love nothing more than to see SC get knocked down, I just have trouble visualizing Stanford doing it. Time will tell though, he's come in, he's rattling other teams cages, so we'll see how it goes for him over the next four years or so...

Don't pump up USC's location too much. It's in the middle of the frickin' ghetto, while Stanford's in in the middle of Silicon Valley. I'm not a fan of Stanford in any sense, but I think the right coach can win there. He won't compete for a national title every year, but he could be a top 3-4 Pac 10 team yearly.

Besides, why tear Stanford down? When Harbaugh falls on his face, I don't want the "nobody can win at Stanford" excuse to be justified.

Someone at the office made a comment last year:

Q: "What's the worst part about going to a USC game?"
A: "Walking home after you find out your car has been stolen"

If he can get them into a bowl game, any bowl game, he'll be a success. I am not meaning to tear the team down, everyone just seems to act like he's going to walk into a school, that really isn't a football school, and suddenly they are going to be a serious contender.
