Jersey / Uniform Discussion (OSU)

An attempt to sell more jerseys. Some folks will always buy the latest version.
very true... I'm glad I did not dump my authentic jersey from last year, it is much better.

Independent of uniform style, I think this is an even bigger downgrade in replica jerseys. Those ozone uniforms look a lot worse IMO with the tiny stripes on the long sleeves... and then the scarlet looks more like something walmart would put out.

Then what are they going to sell for authentic jerseys? How many buckeye fans will be willing to wear a authentic, tight jersey to games? I realize that the "authentic jerseys" are not identical to the game worn ones, but they were pretty similar in the past.

The funny thing is, when they change 'em again in a few years (like they always have and probably always will) the same people will be bitchin' about it.

Can we start the season now so we can stop talking about shirts?

well honestly the replica jerseys look like ass but the authentic one did look better but im still really skeptical. i want to see a pic of a player wearing the jersey with the pants and helmet and then i can infer more upon it.

The color looks better in these BN pictures from today's luncheon:

I saw these earlier today on a logo & uniform message board, and I've got to say that - even though I go to a different OSU - I don't like them. Ohio State had a fantastic look for so many years with the wide gray stripes and it's a shame to see the Buckeyes abandon a great uniform.

Still, and I can't stress this enough, they're better than piping! :wink2:

By the way, Oklahoma State will also be getting new football uniforms and will be throwbacks to our 1984-86 uniforms (below), but with newer materials, a tighter cut, and the modern OSU brand.

I would guess that changing the uniform is directly linked to sales... sales of "spirit wear" and sales of season tickets.

Judging by our sales... I think we're in the top 2 or 3... a change is not necessary to move the merchandise. The same holds true for Michigan, Notre Dame, USC, Tennessee...

look at teams who consistently change their uniforms: Indiana, Northwestern, Illinois in the Big 10. Kentucky, Vandy, in the SEC, Oregon, Washington State, Cal and Oregon State in the Pac 10. Oregon obviously has an additional motivation to show off the latest Nike design.

The same holds true in baseball, the Yankees haven't changed the look of their uniform since 1917. The Red Sox since 37 while the Reds and Indians change them in between innings.

In the NFL the Cowboys, Raiders, Giants, Packers, Bears have no need to change. Everyone else needs something to move the stock on the shelves.

The look has simply shifted quite a bit. These will look more streamlined, with smooth rolling shoulders and minimalistic numbers/stripes... instead of the previous wide shoulder effect from the thick stripes and numbers. Unless anyone has heard otherwise, the only shine left is in our helmets.
Still, and I can't stress this enough, they're better than piping! :wink2:
so true, we did escape in that regard
