Jersey / Uniform Discussion (OSU)

Out here in Seattle, the UW Huskies backers really get on the Phil Knight-backed Oregon program and their seemingly endless change of uniforms, especially the "Green Lantern" version.

That is a path I would prefer not to even look down, much less follow.

Gimmick programs need gimmicks like 144 different uniforms.

It's one time... for one game...

I doubt it. If they get a positive vibe from it, they will try to push it on us. It's a foot in the door.

LOL There is a huge difference between Oregon and Ohio State... The biggest one being the tradition's Ohio State has. They will NEVER have Ohio State changing their uni on a yearly basis like they are Oregon. You can count on that.

I'm by no means a duck honk; but Oregon is far from a gimmick program.

They will have us changing the materials at the very least. They are counting on a positive reaction by the players. If the players think this uniform design gives them a competitive advantage, the University will change it. This is not about selling a few jerseys to fans, it is about introducing a radical overhaul in design, disguised as a way to honor the 54 team. If they can make this pro-combat style a little less Arena league, and a little more traditional looking, maybe it isn't a bad thing - I don't know. But I can tell a sales pitch when I see one.

Hopefully the final version of Ohio State's uniform will have the white stitching on the shoulder pads, rather the gray.

The picture I posted the other day did not show the gray, but it may just be not a close enough shot.

I'm not a fan of the fade in the stripes on the jersey. It will be interesting to see if that carries over to the Buckeyes' jersey in its final version.

The wrap around strip on the back of the pants is not great either

I like the pants a lot. Don't like the shoulder pad area so much. And can really do without the helmet. Let's have our alternate pants and leave alternate jerseys to Notre Dame et al.
