This is the 1954 Helmet. Gray, not white.

I'm just against Nike changing tradition and history for profit. It's one thing to have throwback uni's. But there's no reason to "modernize" them. That defeats the purpose of the throwback.

Especially since any money that Nike makes on our tradition and in honoring one of Oho State's national championship teams will end up right back in the Oregon athletic department.

Duck bastards. Get your own legacy.

dang, the '54 D was pretty stout. only allowed 7.5 points per game.
Yeah, but Terrelle Pryor probably passed for more yardage against Minnesota than the '54 O did all season. But there were no calls to move anyone to wide receiver that year, since we only had tight ends.

Ohio State Historical Scores

doubtful...

you realize woody initially had high flying wide open offenses? the man was originally an offensive innovator before he went to what he is traditionally known as? (granted less wide open and crazy ass than the man he succeeded)

Bill Leggett led the squad with 578 yards passing that year.

However, in '55 and '56 combined, the passing leaders really rolled it up to the tune of 12-30, 148 yards.

I could not care less what uniforms the team wears. I think you all should set your televisions for full-time DVRing of Bravo. That's the network that has "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy," "Project Runway," and "America's Next Top Model." My wife watches that shit all the time.

I'm embarrassed to hang out with such a testosterone-challenged crowd. "Gray stripes" my ass.

"Project Runway" moved to the Style channel last year, Max. :shake:

Great pics, but I'm here to certify that the white helmet was gone by 53. from 53 to 58 or 59 the helmet was a dove gray with a scarlet stripe. They went to a blocky looking helmet in 58 or 59 - The Tom Matte, Bob Ferguson years and stuck with that helmet until 64 or 65 when they introduced both the older style and the new Riddle with the same foam pad and wide stripe, then went to a gray helmet with the stripes they still use today in 68. The silver came about over a period of two or three years with some helmets still in gray and some in silver.

You scare me.

I stumbled across the pic while looking for another link to old uniforms that I can't seem to find any longer.

For the record I'm pretty sure that "tomorrow's" helmet isn't going to have the stripe carried through the face mask either.

Nike is behind this. Since scUM is sponsered by a soccer company I do not think they would work together(addias and nike) to make throwbacks.

Well the thing about it is that they really wouldn't look much different, save removing a few logos which I doubt will happen even on ours..
