Jersey / Uniform Discussion (OSU)

The team wears Riddell helmets, so I don't think it's possible, but might be interesting if some players start wearing Schutt facemasks.

I'd hope they don't wear the Ninja facemasks, but more-and-more NFL players wear them. But OSU wears Riddell helmets (and that might be a good thing).

If you thought this year's unis caused an uproar, wait til you see next year's... Let it be known that I have been a fan of every alt jersey Nike has put out thus far, until this one. It's part of the Swoosh's blackout program next year. As I'm sure you can guess by now, the jersey is black with very little scarlet and grey. Friend of mine works for a sporting goods store, and he showed me the order catalog online for all of the schools involved in the program, including the Buckeyes. I was very disappointed. No mention of the helmet or pants, so speculate all you want. I got the impression that those would remain the same. But that's just my two cents.

I'd be ok with black-out kit one year. As has been said, and is the only rational explanation for Oregon's recent success, recruits like this kind of stuff. We're recruiting at the very top of the food chain now.

I can't stand the standard Schutt facemasks. They look like someone ran out of the proper size and started using youth sized ones.

Because, as we all know, facemasks are a fashion statement rather than a protective device.
Right, because there aren't hundreds of them, accessorized with visors and tape or anything.

That's probably because of face shape.

I think the new "mad max" style facemasks that a lot of the d-linemen are starting to wear is a good example of this. They may be functional in keeping fingers out of your facemask, but my guess is that this is more of a fashion statement to try to look intimidating. Seems like these would just be heavier. Thankfully haven't seen any of the OSU guys wearing these yet.

Uh, no. The number is skewed a bit only due to how it the jersey is fitted and how Braxton is sitting for that shot. The number isn't changed at all.

I'm having a hard time picturing how a fold in the cloth could produce that jutting corner without distorting the left edge.

The article has a link to a hi-res copy. Was the body of the jerseys been that waffle weave looking texture previously?

...and then there is this:
