Jersey / Uniform Discussion (OSU)

Are there even sources that it's going to be a black jersey? So much uproar over it.. The first two pro combat uni's were variations of throwback jerseys - I like that idea better. Or at least if they made it a gray jersey it wouldn't vary from the color scheme.

It's about time that OSU wears black alternates. Only twenty other Nike schools will have done it first.

Well, they do outfit 60% of D-1 teams, and an even higher percentage from the six BCS AQ conferences.

Louisville, Miss St. and South Carolina have all gone Black for Black's Sake lately.

Brain cancer from the 3 watts was the trade off.

That and transmitting with an unencrypted analog signal that anyone with a scanner could listen to...

They were labeled as 'throwback' jerseys. That's a fair bit different than actually being throwback jerseys.

That's certainly a distinguished group that Ohio State would be privileged to be compared with. :so:

-I think the important thing that people are forgetting (and the youngsters don't realize) is that if you are <21 or so in ten years you'll look at pictures of yourself today wearing what you believe is cool and think to yourself "What in the hell was I thinking?!".

That comment was in response to jwinslow's *seeming* insinuation that only Nike loads up on the black alternates. Honestly, I think a black alternate could work and hopefully the outcry wouldn't be any worse than the last two years. Perhaps I've just less of a problem with one-off jerseys as long as they retain some identity.

This will probably come off sounding like a Nike apologist but I think Maryland's duds and tonight's UM/ND "turn back the clock" game shows that adidas and UA are as much cash hogs as Nike, without much of the innovation.

I can see that. I was mainly just pointing out the types of institutions that resort to such measures.

I don't think that makes you a Nike apologist at all.

Pointing out how millions murdered by Stalin doesn't make one a Hitler apologist.

It's not your disagreeing with me, it's your thinking that wearing black jerseys doesn't go against tradition.
I never said black jerseys don't go against tradition, I just have a different view of tradition at tOSU.

We're just gonna have to agree to disagree. We both have different, valid view points on things.
