Jersey / Uniform Discussion (OSU)

Well there had been at least a home jersey designed so why not:

Hopefully they change the helmet around a bit from last year if thats indeed the look they go with. If they can get the helmet down it can be made to look a little more "throwbackish" then it was last year

I think these are much better than last seasons "alternate". The consistent use of both scarlet and grey in the ENTIRE uni leaves no doubt as to who the team is. This uniform reminds me of a football version of the bball teams all grey w/red uniforms as of recent.

I hope they go with the white helmet again though, it would look sharp here.

As far as an alternate is concerned, not bad at all - could be worse, ala Va Tech and Florida a few years back with the secondary color draped over a single shoulder.

One thing I don't understand is why Nike would want to put the uniforms out there where the game is Nike vs. Nike. For majority of the teams last season wearing the Pro Combat uniforms it was Nike vs. Adidas (if not all).

However, the Miami game is most likely the most-hyped regular season game and perhaps Nike didn't want to force Ohio State to wear the special uniforms two years in a row in the Michigan (Adidas) game.

This is why I was complaining about cookie cutter designs that are colored for teams rather than actually designed for their traditions:

They just filled in the shoulders and pants with gray, and tossed numbers on there (but not the right color helmet).

Meanwhile the Clemson, UF and other pants were almost the same:

I'd put money on them wearing this for Michigan again this year. Michigan is sponored my a soccer brand ((addidas(which might also explain why they recruit soccer sized football players)) and because we have the scum dumpsters at home this year.

I have a feeling this is going to be an annual thing here on out against the Adidas schools.

If you're going to wear special uniforms, I did like what South Carolina and Maryland did last season with the ones to honor the armed forces.

Just watching Penn State practice on BTN. Perhaps they never have the opportunity, but they never seem to do anything drastic with their uniforms.

And they won't as long as JoePa has something to say about it.

They won't because they like looking like Spaceballs:

Will they be the same as last years? I didn't read anything on that link about wearing 2009's Pro Combat Uni's unless I missed it.

Doubt they'll be the same since we'll be home this year.

That, and they'll change it so everyone will buy the new jerseys.

The real trick is to try to predict what "catchy" phrase Nike will put on the jerseys (i.e. Tradition).

I suggest "Straight Cash Homey".

And for 2011 (b/c there will be one), maybe "Reigning".
