Jersey Scrimmage - Saturday, August 18th

I guess the Offense won the scrimmage. Ozone fan forum report has ROBO looking good with some nice catches, and Kurt Coleman getting two pics. TB had two TD passes.

Reported that Boeckman and Schoenhoft both had two TD's (and a pick for Schoenhoft, the only turnover of the scrimmage) while Henton had no TD's or picks. Also of note, both Boeckman and Schoenhoft led winning drives in overtime situations.

I also read that Beanie was once again held out to nurse his sprain - but could have played. (After all, he does get a jersey either way.)

LOL. How could Coleman have 2 picks and the qb`s only have 1 interception. Go Bucks

Its a Chuck Norris thing.

Does Beanie have a sprain or a shoulder dinger? And who carried the rock as the starter? How did Mo and Saine do if both played?

I know the rules are weird and its hard to draw conclusions from the results but I'm still not as high on this defense as some are. The offense should not be able to hold its own vs the defense this time of year, let alone without Beanie and with all the new faces.

The D was opportunistic last year vs some poor teams and I think we all saw what happened vs two good offenses when the TO's didn't happen. The NC game wasn't all their fault, the gameplan was just too much to overcome but I'm still just leery. I just don't see that interior DL being an absolute run stuffing brick wall like Tim Anderson/K Peterson were. They could be as good or even better eventually but I just have my doubts that its going to happen that soon.

I think they can be solid but I'm not buying a lot of the "where among the ATG" type talk I see around here regarding the '07 defense. Hope I'm wrong.

2005 - score? 95 to 39 domination by the offense. Quite the opposite showed up early that year.

and very, very green. there were, what, 6 or so juniors and seniors on the 2-deep.

few interior defensive lines have been that good at stopping the run.

Lets hope its the same deal this year, I'm just going to be cautiously optimistic untill I see it for myself I guess.

I don't think they are going to suck or anything, just that some of the hype(completely normal for preseason btw) is a bit too lofty is all.
