Jaylan Knighton (RB SMU)

Per Ellis (and I believe Birm confirmed), Knighton has been trying to get back in the good graces of Ohio State for several months. Doubt this changes anything.

There were bridges that might have been burned there.
Not to state the obvious but it's not the kids responsibility to "mend fences" he decided to commit to another school. Not sure how that burns any kind of bridge.

If he's interested we should try our hardest to secure his commitment. Particularly since we are 50 days to early signing period.

You nor I have no idea what transpired. I disagree with everything you posted.

I'll still happily take him. Recruiting isn't personal, it's strictly business.

When you're engaging with an interested party in a business deal, and you go with someone else, the right thing to do is tell them that. It shows poor character to not do so. It's not enough to be talented to earn a scholarship at the top echelon schools, the little things like character count.

he's 17 years old. Not handling things in a mature manner isn't that big a deal.

I have no idea what happened with Knighton and some of what is being referenced here...

That said, he was my favorite RB in class. His blend of physical style with burst was special.

If there was ever a guy you re-evaluate, I think this is one. One of bigger upsides to OSU right now is the overall character of the program. My assumption may be wrong, but it seems you could take a risk on a few character concern guys with hope he falls into line with an elite program.
