Anyone know if his grandfather was Micky Bitsko? Mickey was a much ballyhooed recruit to ND in the early sixties. He transferred to U Dayton where he was a solid linebacker for the flyers. One of those life imitates art things: the name, Mickey Bitsko, had been used a good deal by one of the regular cartoonists at MAD Magazine until the real Mickey headed off to South Bend.

Not definitively, but it seems likely: http://obituaries.triblive.com/listing/113405/Stella-Bitsko/

His grandfather is Mickey, according to his obituary.

Thanks. I saw Mickey play several times, once against Bowling Green. this is back when Dayton was still Div 1a. Sounds like he decided to stay in Dayton after his playing days.

He's definitely Mickey's grandson. I played FB & wrestled with his dad for one year at Carroll. Randy has long been a coach & teacher in the Wayne school system.
