The fact the photo is named "China_2002_wave_350.jpg" should've been your first hint, Sherlock...
Since I did not save it or have to name it, I don't normally investigate what the title might be of some random pic I cut and paste for a thread.

I'll start doing that.

And I really like your avatar pic. That is to say, I really like "Odd, pasty white asshole bothers local aquatic life again!"

Let me get this straight, you copied the link of the photo to paste it here, and didn't notice the fucking word "China" in it? :slappy:

OK. No promises though.

Nope. I copied a picture

and didn't notice the [censored]ing word "China" in it? :slappy:
No "words" came up at all at any time. I suggest you go to Scooter's kid's blog. She can explain all of that new tech [Mark May] to you. They have these "mouse" things with like - these buttons on them. But here's the thing, they're not "real" mice at all - but egg shaped plastic shells with electronics inside of them that talk to the computer even without a cord...and the "buttons" aren't really butto... trust me, Mili, it's like a whole new world!

To paste a photo to a post, you either have to do one of two things:

1. Click the photo icon
insertimage.gif
and then paste the URL of the photo in the resulting script pop-up box

2. Manually type in the IMG tags ({IMG} and {/IMG} with the "{}" actually being "[]") within the post and insert the photo's URL in between them.

Either way, you'll see the name of the photo file. You cannot simply "copy and paste" a photo into a web text input box (which is what you type in when you make a post).

So, "So solly, tly again..."

I admit I haven't read the entire thread, but did anyone see incidents of mass looting or people standing around asking who was going to pay their bills?

Just curious. :wink2:

No! They typically blame foreigners(cough, cough) for any looting and bad behavior. But they have taken the situation(so far) quite stoakley!

Jake, feel free to go [censored] yourself. Yeah, that was the first thing that everyone did once they survived the disaster and got in their obligatory looting...stand around and ask who was going to pay their bills.

I hope a Higher Power is listening, and He/She/It drops a 500 ton [Mark May]-hammer of Karma on your ignorant ass in some fashion or other.

Interesting article.

What were the tens of thousands of dead people going to loot from their totally destroyed sea side towns? The scope of the destruction and its proximity ( or lack thereof ) from places they could loot has some to do with it. The culture is another, to be sure. Truth be told, as long as we are stereotyping, I'll take the individual mindset that results in looting over the total willingness to group think that results in Nanking or the Bataan march.

And reporting bias was an issue. Post Katrina studies of news reporting showed a huge disparity over the way taking things were reported.

katrina_looting_vs_finding.jpg

90% of the crime reporting was false. The statements from our police chief and the mayor were false. The stories of rampant rapes and murders at the convention center and the Superdome were false. If you want to look for it, there are hundreds of examples of false reporting - reporting equaling CNN's reports of "Reactors exploding". Reporting rumors to get viewers is not new. But truth be told the problems are 90% less than you think they were. But thanks to the press reports - and your willingness to think something that supports your pre-existing world view - you will always wind up with a post like the one you typed.

Did some idiots loot some buildings? Yeah. Were a couple idiot cops looting the one walmart? Yeah. Everyone saw that footage. But most of the "stealing" was for something to drink. You can live for many days without food. They can live for days without water in 40 degree Japan. But in a 95 degree humid day sitting on a tar roof in the sun or in an attic - you have one - or two days at the most if you do not have formula or water.

Nope, you can copy and paste it in Internet Explorer and Firefox. It's the one limitation of Chrome, it doesn't support WYSIWYG editing in vbulletin, which is a pain.
