Everybody is somebody else's weirdo.
Back in June, Broccoli told Deadline that they're “reinventing who [Bond] is, and that takes time. I'd say that filming is at least two years away.” So theoretically, the film won't go into production until 2024 at the earliest, with a theatrical release sometime in 2025.

Who is Aaron Taylor-Johnson? The Man Rumoured to be the Next Bond

Aaron-Taylor-Honson-Bond-1200x900.png

Whether you recognise the name or not, there’s a very good chance you’ve seen Aaron Taylor-Johnson on the big screen. Best known for his work in movies such as Kick-Ass, Savages, Nowhere Boy, and Avengers: Age of Ultron, the British actor is reportedly going to take on one of the biggest roles of them all: a little spy by the name of James Bond (or should we say Bond. James Bond). According to current gossip, the official announcement will arrive in March or April of 2023.
.
.
.
Does that mean we can say with 100 per cent certainty that Taylor-Johnson will be taking down supervillains, sipping martinis, and dispensing with all kinds of advanced gadgetry in the near future? It does not. For starters, Deuxmoi has an accuracy rate that teeters around 50/50. However, their claim was supported by the British tabloid The Sun, which has sources of its own. According to their source, Taylor-Johnson knocked the socks off producer Barbara Broccoli during a screen test in September.

Cavill-Taylor-Johnson-comp-696x442.jpg

Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Henry Cavill are tied as the bookies’ favourite to become the next James Bond.

William Hill has both Taylor-Johnson and Cavill at 2-1 odds as Daniel Craig’s successor, which comes after the latter was dropped from the role of Superman.

Taylor-Johnson was previously rumoured to be the frontrunner after he reportedly impressed producer Barbara Broccoli during a secret audition.

According to the betting company, Tom Hardy is the third favourite at 6-1 odds, followed by Regé-Jean Page at 8-1, James Norton and Chiwetel Ejiofor both at 10-1, and Douglas Booth, Richard Madden and Dan Stevens all at 12-1.

James Bond Shake-Up: Amazon Takes Creative Control of Franchise From Broccoli Family in New Deal

The studio will take the reins for the 60-year-old movie property, while Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli will remain co-owners as they move to the sidelines as part of a joint venture transaction.

The James Bond movie franchise has gotten a shake-up, with Amazon MGM Studios and Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli forming a new joint venture to house the movie property’s intellectual property rights.

Under the terms of the agreement, Amazon MGM Studios will gain creative control of the James Bond franchise, while Wilson and Broccoli will remain co-owners of the 60-year-old property. In 2022, Amazon acquired MGM, including a vast catalog with more than 4,000 films and 17,000 TV shows.

Since the MGM acquisition, Amazon has held rights to distribute all of the James Bond films, and following completion of the joint venture transaction will control the creative on future productions.

“We are grateful to the late Albert R. Broccoli and Harry Saltzman for bringing James Bond to movie theatres around the world, and to Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli for their unyielding dedication and their role in continuing the legacy of the franchise that is cherished by legions of fans worldwide. We are honored to continue this treasured heritage, and look forward to ushering in the next phase of the legendary 007 for audiences around the world,” Mike Hopkins, head of Prime Video and Amazon MGM Studios, said in a statement on Thursday.

Wilson added he was stepping back from producing James Bond movies to focus on art and charitable projects. “Therefore, Barbara and I agree, it is time for our trusted partner, Amazon MGM Studios, to lead James Bond into the future,” Wilson said in his own statement.

News of the joint venture comes amid continuing speculation about Bond 26, the next iteration of the 007 franchise, after Daniel Craig hung up the tuxedo for good in 2021’s No Time to Die. Barbara Broccoli echoed that it was time for her to step aside and allow Amazon MGM Studios to take over the creative reins.

“My life has been dedicated to maintaining and building upon the extraordinary legacy that was handed to Michael and me by our father, producer Cubby Broccoli. I have had the honor of working closely with four of the tremendously talented actors who have played 007 and thousands of wonderful artists within the industry. With the conclusion of No Time to Die and Michael retiring from the films, I feel it is time to focus on my other projects,” Broccoli said.

Just sayin': Maybe Bond 26 will start to "gear up" now.

Rewatched The Man from UNCLE, which is a play on the original Leo G. Carrol version, and thought Henry Cavill did a very good rendition of being Napoleon Solo. Not at the level of several Bonds of old, but certainly above the Bonds of near yesterdays. Sad he dropped from The Witcher (he made the role), but guess he's making too much money elsewhere to get tied down. Anyway, he gets my vote.

What Really Drove Barbara Broccoli to Break Up With James Bond?

After decades of fiercely protecting her family business, the longtime Bond producer just sold 007 to Amazon. Nobody can figure out why.

7rep_rambling-MAIN-SPLASH-2025.jpg

When half-siblings Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson inherited the Bond franchise in the mid-1990s, they received a piece of advice from their dying father, legendary producer Cubby Broccoli, that would end up guiding their creative decisions for decades. “Don’t let anybody else screw it up,” he warned them. “You can screw it up if you want to, but don’t let other people screw it up.”

Alas, it is finally somebody else’s turn. Last week, Broccoli, 64, announced that she and Wilson (who at 83 has been edging into retirement the past few years) were selling their interest in their late father’s EON — the company that’s kept the Broccoli dynasty in creative control of 007 since the character first swaggered onto the screen in 1962 — to Amazon, the powerful international organization run by a bald-headed billionaire who hangs out in a hollowed-out volcano (well, a yacht, but big diff). The shocking turn of events left much of Hollywood baffled. Why, after so faithfully guarding this precious family heirloom, would Broccoli suddenly unload it? And to the very people she’d been locking horns with for the past four years, since Amazon purchased MGM, Bond’s longtime home, for $8.45 billion in 2021? Insiders say there are a couple of theories.

Theory one: After producing nine Bond films over 30 years, starting with GoldenEye in 1995, Broccoli no longer has the stomach or stamina for another years-long Bond production marathon. Although she’s famously adroit at dispatching meddlesome film executives — something she mastered early on with MGM — Broccoli is said to have grown tired of that as well and clearly hit a wall with her new partners at Amazon, whom she recently described in a Wall Street Journal interview as “fucking idiots.” Those choice words, in retrospect, were probably a clue she’d had enough and was ready to bolt.

Theory two: Jeff Bezos made her an offer she couldn’t refuse. “He read her quote in the Journal and got on the phone and said, ‘I don’t care what it costs, get rid of her,’ ” is what one source familiar with the franchise hears is what happened, confirming that it ended up costing Bezos something like (pinkie to lip) one billion dollars.

Both theories are plausible, but neither fully explains Broccoli’s head-scratching change of heart. For one thing, she hardly needs money: She’s already reportedly worth close to a half-billion dollars. For another, she’s not only severing herself from the franchise but the rest of the Broccoli family, including several young potential heirs — Broccolini — like Wilson’s son, Greg, who sources say was being groomed to take over the business, as well as a niece who also has worked on the movies. “To tell you the truth,” the source tells Rambling Reporter, “nobody knows why Barbara did it. It doesn’t make sense.”

Moore was a cartoonish Bond. Good movies but shitty Bond.
Man, he had to put up with Sheriff Pepper twice and well, Moonraker. Get some better villains and for your eyes only would have been very good and Moore was fine with it... Spy Who loved me was good and he was fine in it as well (if we must accept the submarine Lotus), but Man with The Golden Gun sure could have been better. The rest? Not so much. (Live and Let die had a great theme and final scene!)

Cavill left the Witcher because he had read all the books and hated the direction the story was going, veering too far from the books. He’s now involved in a Warhammer 10k movie or show I think. The dude is a nerd at heart, and must be protected at all cost.

Backed to Bond. Idris Elba would be my choice for maybe a 3 movie trilogy, just wish it would’ve happened years ago.

Also, my Rankings
1. Connery (he was first and you never forget your first)
2. Moore
3. Craig (dark, serious James Bond)
4. Brosnan (Goldeneye was amazing but everything after that was worse than anything Moore had to deal with….also that might be the best video game in history. Many classes skipped because of that in college)
5. Dalton (Never liked him, shoulda been a villain)
***Lazenby (one hit wonder unfortunately)
**** Nivens (doesn’t really count. Not really a bond movie)

My personal taste I might put Craig ahead of Moore based on the strength of the movies and character.

Casino Royale and Skyfall were better than any Moore film and he was better in them... (I mean I know I just defended Roger Moore but, I just thought the platforms were weird and unserious at times, I mean, we had to sit through Diamonds are Forever too... )

Actually For Your Eyes Only is one of my favorite Bond movies. Moore had some good storylines in his movies.

Definitely would put Craig ahead of Moore.
